New player experience is brutal. Failure to win/get kills means you very quickly run out of money to AMMO. Incredibly early own this game demands your wallet. No thanks.

TL;DR: Too much Grind, Unbalanced, Broken damage models makes game very frustrating. Snail wants all your money.

I have only been playing since late 2019 and somehow the last few economy changes have made this game outright unplayable. Unless you are getting over 2000 mission score each round and using nothing but paid premium vehicles you see next to no progress in the upper tiers now. It's PAINFULLY slow. This game has it's fun moments but all of the bugs that devs refuse to acknowledge make this frustrating to play. Damage models make no sense and instead of spending time polishing existing tanks they want more and more of your money so new and "new" vehicles keep being announced, may of which are just model part swaps or minute detail changes. They don't want you to play the game, they just want your money. More and More of your money. Having a premium account is practically required and that STILL doesn't alienate the horrible grind. You can expect matches at higher tiers to be 80% Paid premium pack vehicles and very few tech tree ones. Avoid until they improve.

The wobbly physics make it difficult to quickly build anything useful and some of the early missions feel hopeless as the enemy whittles away your hard earned blocks, and eventually you are left with nothing. I may revisit it again but 6 hours of trying to like this game because the concept sounded and looked so good. I just can't get into it.

Also the controls are very counter-intuitive. Right click to de-select enemies feels clunky and pressing escape brings up the menu but escape does not close the menu again, you have to click resume.

needs more polish for sure.

Since the introduction of Better Future, I decided to jump back in from scratch. I had just as much fun starting from the handfull of parts this time around as I did before.

If you love building and tweaking, this game is for you. Virtually every enemy encounter in the early game is the tense and rewarding, you'll find yourself stopping to sop up parts and make your tech bigger and badder every time!

with over 170hrs in game, every update brings something new and fun to terratech!

Defense Grid Got me into the concept of Tower defense games, and has since been my gold standard for the genre ever since! DG:2 improves on the origional and has far better graphics and effects for the towers! It's been a struggle to find another title that stands up to this! although this game is 4 years old, I hold out a glimmer of hope for a DG3 or at least more maps for 2!

!!! DEVS HAVE CEASED PRODUCTION !!!

That said, it's a shame it's still quite good. I was reluctant to give this a negative recommend, but the reality is that the servers are not densely populated and you very frequently end up with a team made entirely of bots, and the enemy...entirely bots. Which is GREAT for junk grinding, but really biases your experience. Because it seems any players you DO actually come across, are incredibly skilled and just WRECK face. I can't confirm and with no Dev support, there's no point in bringing it up, but there appears to be a few cheated designs every now and then.

Really a shame, i guess they couldn't figure out how to monitize this properly and just walked away.

Early Access Review
UPDATE: Changed to negative. They abandoned this game. It could have been good! played too much and Valve refuses to give my money back. :/

For those of you that remember Metal fatigue, this game scratches that itch! Although not as in-field dynamic as metal fatigue, such as being able to swap parts from fallen foes in the middle of battle. It does however let you customize your pilot, head, torso, legs and a weapon on each hand and each shoulder. Choice of weapons is pretty broad, which is nice.

my only complaint? no WASD map move. It's either screen bump or using the arrow keys like it's 1999.

This is probably one of the more interesting Roguelike-like titles I have ever played. I can't really place Convoy in a particular catagory since it's got RPG elements such as free roam map movement and random encounters. But the combat gameplay is very tower defence like space run. But it cries out as a roguelike the loudest. If you lose a vehicle it is GONE. There is no way to recover it, hope you get a chance to buy another. If your MCV is destroyed, it's game over. There is no save point. You have to start over. And trust me, nothing has that throw-your-mouse-across-the-room frustration of a roguelike effect like hauling a Shield MK IV back to camp to fit on your MCV only to get jumped by raiders and get blown to bits.

The Procedurally generated map points for main and side missions keeps the gameplay fresh, even when you begin to know your way around the map!
