Why does this have to be a work day?

First impressions.
- Feels like KCD. If you liked KCD you'll feel right at home.
- No jank so far. Very polished almost everywhere.
- Runs great.
- I've noticed some distracting pop-in even at the maximum ("Experimental") graphics settings.

I'm only a couple of hours in right now but I'm enjoying myself. It runs well even when maxed out and is generally entirely stutter free, the graphics are great (just have an open mind with the art direction, it grows on you), the music is great, the writing (so far) isn't nearly as continually bad as people were trying to lead me to believe as a whole. I like the combat system so far, and decided to start it on Nightmare (I figure this is how you force combat to require more tactics instead of just mashing X being good enough to get through most anything).

Haven't had any crashes or anything like that so far at all. Had to tap a mouse button at first on the "press any button" prompt screen at the beginning because the controller buttons didn't seem to be working - that's the worst of it so far. Game looks and feels polished to me.

I did not like DA2 or Inquisition, and I don't think I ever managed to finish either. So far, this is working better for me.

Will update this if I have any more throughts once I'm out of the honeymoon phase.

This game makes my heart pump unlike any other game has done since I was a kid. Since I'm not a kid anymore, it's a little worrying.

After having thoroughly beaten War of the Chosen (on Veteran, I found it a little easy I'll probably play again on Commander) I decided to check this out since Firaxis was nice enough to give it to me as part of my War of the Chosen purchase. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at what it ended up being (not having read up on it at all prior to playing it).

Some may feel like it's a downside not being in complete control of your team, their skills and equipment but I felt like it made sense and actually was liberating in a way to force you to treat it more like a puzzle to be solved, much like the challenge mode. I also enjoyed the score based approach to the TLP, also carried over from challenges.

The story is what it is, I enjoyed it, it's a change of pace from the main game. Overall, I expected this to just be a collection of random missions with no context between them and definitely got more than I expected.

I don't tend to review games, but I felt that DOS2 deserved something here. I am not a person that usually has a lot of time to put towards gaming any more, and what I mean by that is if I'm not having a really good time with a game I simply won't keep playing it as I have a lot of other things that I could be doing.

DOS2 sucked me in and kept me interested all the way through to the end. I felt like the very last part of the game lost some of the drive the rest of the game had but that is really my only complaint. I felt not that I had to, but wanted to, see all of the content the game had to offer where normally I will lose steam on side content pretty fast in most games, hardly anything in here feels like filler which is something pretty amazing for a game I've so far spent over 130 hours playing just on one play through of the campaign.

I am definitely going to be one of the first in line for Larian Studios next adventure, whatever form it might take.
