I will say that this game has come a long way from when I orginally stopped playing like 3yrs before. Back then it had no single player campain and only PvP with a wierd grinding system for materials to create traps and bosses. Was the gameplay intesting? Yes it played like everyother MOBA except you created the waves and your enemies created kill boxxes that you had to push through. Was it worth grinding for? No, not really with how the grind was so unfathomably long needing almost 1,000 of 3-5 different materials that dropped randomly and only gave up to 30 per game.

However now it's gone back to it's roots and is almost like an entrily different game. No PvP anymore, but good old fashioned OMD with PvE and lots of new characters to choose from. The system is much symplier for getting new traps with simply opening chests that you earn from matches and they can give quite a bit of stuff for leveling your gear. However don't expect to play for a little bit and expect to get couple new characters, that's not happening anytime soon. New characters are at least 6K and being a low level means upgrading certain traps are much more important that a new character.

With how the game is now I can recommend this for people who want to try and get into the series without spending a dime, but try and get the previous installments if possiable.
