I keep changing my mind on whether I should recommend this game or not and overall I did have a good time BUT I only recommend it to those people who are importing a save from ASM.

The Good

- Mature themes/scenes are explored in this game.
- The music is amazing
- Art has improved, especially the portraits
- The writing is great leading to some very funny moments
- Save imports from Always Sometimes Monsters
- Mini games are in HD
- Naming each chapter in your book making it feel like you're an author
- New cooking mechanics
- You can pet dogs if you're into that!

The Bad:

- Bugs bug bugs! (Devs are working hard on bug fixes though)
- Main character doesn't have set lines anymore, instead you pick everything they say. I feel as though my characters soul has been sucked out, I understand why they wanted to do this but I didn't like this change at all.
- Main Characters portrait doesn't appear
- Main story was a little weak
- Side content lacking
- No consequences for your actions, those last 5 mins mean more than the whole game.
- I didn't really care about any of the other authors and I feel like they weren't fleshed out enough.
- Lack of meaningful choices
- No end game content

Conclusion:

If you're looking for more of what you got in the first game then you won't find it here. Is this game bad? No it's not. But I don't recommend picking it up without at least playing the first game first because my connections to my spouse and the people I met in the first game made this good for me as lacking as some of those scenes were. I'd buy the first game and if you enjoy it consider getting this one but I really wouldn't pick this one up without playing that one first. As the game stands now, it's a little disappointing. That being said he devs are working hard on bug fixes and new content. It's clear they care about their game which gives me hope for this games future and hopefully a new Sometimes Always Monsters game in the future as I'm not quite ready to say goodbye to my wannabe author just yet.

So I should start off by saying I won't be comparing this to the original game for one reason....I never actually played the original game! I was very excited to be able to jump into this and see what all the fuss was about and to be able to finally face off with the Nemesis.

The Good

- Jill is back!
- The rest of the characters are great!
- Graphics look amazing
- Animation is great
- The game is very immersive
- Part of the game is set a couple of hours before RE2 so you do get to see how certain things unfold and it does a nice job tying itself into RE2

The Bad:

- Game is VERY short, my first playthrough clocked in at about 6 - 7 hours
- Nemesis was very disappointing compared to Mr X, all encounters were scripted
- No endgame content such as a mercenary mode, Hunk mode or a Tofu mode
- TERRIBLE multiplayer game thrown in as bundle
- Only one costume for Jill when you complete the game and none at all for Carlos (unless you pre ordered the game)
- Puzzles were missing

Conclusion:

I actually really enjoyed my time with this game but for a full priced game only clocking in at 6 - 7 hours I really can't justify buying the game at full price. If you haven't brought or played RE2 then I highly recommend doing so and if you enjoyed it then come back and play this game when it's on sale.

What Is ZOMBI?

ZOMBI is a HD port from the WiiU game ZOMBIU, it's survial horror game set in London. I was very happy to see this game make it over to the PC, even if Ubisoft did completely mess up the port.

Pros

  • Genuine jump scares
  • Great locations to explore
  • Amazing Atmosphere
  • It's set in London which is a nice change of pace
  • Great voice acting
  • It's a scary game, I found myself creeping around every corner incase there was a zombie hiding around it.
  • Some very tense moments
  • The Prepper Pad was fun tool to use.
  • "Special" zombies aren't overused.

    Cons

  • Uplay
  • Item management is awful, you can't move any of your items around in your backpack (unless you're using a mouse and keyboard)
  • The cricket Bat, the pistol and the flashlight is permanently stuck in your backpack even though the flashlight is clearly strapped to your chest.
  • Most items felt a little bit pointless, especially the food items since I was always overflowing with medpacks.
  • Story is very weak
  • Forgettable characters (Apart from "The Prepper")
  • The main character is a random mute survivor, who has no input to the "story" whatsoever. Once you're dead, you're dead, a new survivor is spawned and you have to get your loot off your old survivors body, who could be a zombie at this point. It's a good idea in practise, but I cared more about my loot than I did for anyone I played.
  • Combat is very boring.
  • Guns felt weak.
  • Zombies would ragdoll through my legs, sometimes disappearing altogether.
  • Zombies would clip through the floors, walls and ceilings.
  • The crafting system is pretty much "upgrade your gun once", it felt very unnecessary and more of an afterthought.

    Nitpicking

  • No Crouch button
  • No jump button

Not real reasons not to get the game or lower the score, but something that bothered me a little.

    Afterthought

I know I've complained a lot in this review but I did have a good time playing it, the atmosphere was great, the game was genuinely scary and the sound design was top notch. But this game has so many problems, poor item management, clipping zombies, a weak story, forgettable characters and survivors who you just don't care about. I would recommend the game, but not at £15. If you ever see this game on sale then I would pick it up, but don't go in expect anything deep because you won't find it here, it also helps to go in remembering that Ubisoft aren't known for great PC ports, as some of you are well aware by the nightmare that was Assassins Creed Unity. I do hope they try again with a sequel, this game has the potential to be so much more.

    Final Verdict

Below Average game, but it had it's moments.

What's Castle Crashers?

Castle Crashers is a 2d platform indie Beat'm Up game. After playing so many hours of this game on the Xbox 360, I was very happy to see this game made it to steam so I could enjoy the whole experience all over again. I would recommend playing this game with a controller though.

Pros

  • Amazing Soundtrack
  • Loads of replay value
  • You never know where each level will take you, one minutes you'll be fighting each other to kiss a princess the next you'll be running away from a giant troll on a deer that has some bowel problems.
  • Enemies are unique and fun to fight.
  • 21 boss fights
  • RPG level up system
  • Animal Orbs & Weapons to collect.
  • Rammy is life, Rammy is love.
  • Insane mode if you're feeling brave
  • Many moments that make you laugh
  • Can be played and completed in single player if you prefer but I'd recommend bringing friends for a more enjoyable experience
  • The ending is one of the funniest I've ever seen and completely random.
  • The most fun coop game I've ever played.
  • Lot's of characters to unlock
  • Max level of 99
  • "All you can quaff" a button mashing mini game where you have to eat your food faster than the other players
  • An arena game mode, where you compete in a variety of team and free for all game modes, including melee fights, archery fights, treasure hunting and more.
  • When you eat a sandwhich you become massive and really strong
  • Lots of different environments to fight in, including a forest, a lava world, the dessert, a snowy mountain, a swamp and many more.
  • The price! £10 is a steal!
  • Did I mention you ride a deer that has bowel problems?! I mean, you should buy it just for that.

Cons

  • None

Final Verdict

So is this game worth it? I feel like this is a rather unique game, at least from every game I've personally played and I've never played something like this, a game where one minute you're fighting ninja pirates and the next you're playing a friendly game of volley ball. Each level felt exciting and new, the bosses were fun, the enemies were unique to each area, the game has a way to make you laugh at the silliest of things. The replay value is incredible, the soundtrack is amazing, the memoires you'll make from the game will stick with you, you'll have so much fun with your friends and you can get all of it for just £10! This game is worth every bit of money you'll spend on it and then some. So grab your friends, kill some barbarians and fight each other for a princess!

Is this game worth it? That all depends on you, if you're looking for a game where monsters will chase you down the hall, where jumpscares happen around every corner, where you'll fingure out difficult puzzles and become a hero! Then you're not going to enjoy Gone Home.

Gone Home is a game where you'll walk around a house reading notes and listen to diary entries read by your younger sister Sam. You'll find out what's been going on in the life of your family in the year that you were away travelling. Sam is the main storyline here, but you can find out a lot about the mum and dad if you dig around for a bit, reading notes never felt like a chore.

However once you complete the game once, that's it, since there's no achievements the desire to go back right away wasn't a strong one, it does have a developer commentary mode but I understand that might not be for everyone. I would recommend it if you like exploring and you're looking for a game with a rather enjoyable story, but maybe wait until it's on sale before picking it up.
