This was a neat story. Good gameplay.

Unrelated note but interesting how Sega of America is listed in the credits.

Okay... so I am not an Overwatch player. I did try Overwatch 1 some years back and it wasn't my thing. But, before I jumped on the negative review bandwagon, I actually wanted play for at least an hour, and then give my thoughts.

This game is... probably not my thing but I had a little bit of fun with it.

Pros:

- Offers more diverse gameplay styles than Valorant without things getting overcomplicated
- The tutorial was fun because I could destroy props in it.
- Actually was much easier to learn than Valorant.
- I liked that it had a Payload mode, coming from TF2 this was a welcome surprise.
- I suppose game has a much more clever way to deter communications abuse than TF2 and CSGO. Something about a "New user experience" challenge or something like that.
- Some of the ragdolls are as funny as ♥♥♥♥.
- Mechanics did not prevent my skills from other games I play from carrying over rather seamlessly.
- Graphics are really nice and are surprisingly quite optimized by default.

Cons:

- I had to sign up for battlenet.
- They asked me to enter my full, real name. Yeah... no thanks.
- Made an account with a fake name so if I ever lose access, well I'm screwed, so this is the biggest thing that is really discouraging me from playing this game in the long run.
- The tutorial acted like I didn't know how to W+A+S+D
- This game's casual mode has a really really bad balance system. Almost all the games I played, my team got very quickly steam-rolled by clearly more experienced players. Sometimes this happens in CSGO Casual and it pisses me off there, and it pisses me here. Except, unlike CSGO, I don't have as much freedom map pool-wise and gamemode wise as a new player. Was hoping to play for more than an hour but I was just done bro.
- Blizzard sucks more than probably any other gaming company, for reasons ranging from sexual assault to breast milk. And they want me to pay them for a new gamemode that's not even anything like the gamemode that was supposed to be the pinnacle of this release. Lol.
- The company definitely does not have their player base in mind, and they have suffered for it. They couldn't... or rather... won't... deliver major promises. Yes, ironic that this is coming from a TF2 player but I am long time player that has more or less accepted the way things are. Whereas with Overwatch, there's nothing really too exciting for me to look forward to as a new player. Other than being different, there's nothing special about this game that stands out to me.

Final notes:

This is a game that I could actually play, and give more of a chance. There's a bit of fun in it that I like. However, the cons I have listed have left a bad taste in my mouth, and so I am steered away from the idea of putting time into this game, as all I see in the future are problems and lack of anything really exciting.

The highlight of playing about 70 or so minutes of this game was thinking about how Tracer could be the Sonic the Hedgehog of this universe, only to be proven right when in the second to last game I played, I was faced against a Tracer player named Sanic and they proceeded to kick our ♥♥♥♥ in in the cheekiest way possible that really did remind me of that chaotic hedgehog so that was funny to me, couldn't get mad at that.

This game coming to steam is clearly a desperate move, which doesn't even seem to be working. What, only like 20,000 players active right now? TF2 is a game being held together by duct tape and a prayer and the current average player count for the last 30 days is over 100k active players. Insane how this franchise has been way more successful than certain Steam titles and it's come down to this...

I'm not here to gloat. I feel for Overwatch fans and if I was a regular Overwatch player, I'd actually be pissed about how things are going with this game. As a regular TF2 player, I have accepted that my game is likely dying and there will likely be a day, assuming Valve continues its next to no effort stance, that the plug may be pulled within the next five years or so. And when that day comes, I will be genuinely heartbroken. Not saying that Overwatch is dying, but rather that I know how it feels when things take a gloomy turn. Maybe if things get turned around soon with Microsoft at the wheel I might be willing to give this game more of a chance.

The bots have gone too far. The Devs need reinforcements. Your move, Valve.
