This game is great. Buy it. If you know what you're getting yourself into, you already understand why. If you're getting started or are on the fence, watch a gameplay video (I recommend ReformistTM) to get a feel for it.

Here's the caveat: Taleworlds (the game's creators) are...rather absent. Infrequent, mod-breaking updates with rather bland features added or just bugfixes is what the main issues seem to be.

HOWEVER

The MOD SCENE for this game is NUTS. There are mods on the workshop that have higher production quality and are more fun than whole entire games churned out by AAA studios. You want magic? Cool, got you. Guns? No problem. Absolute and utter control over every aspect and minutiae of kingdom and/or warband/army management? Also not an issue. Battle formations made entirely of the fabled Hellenic phalanx? Resurrect the legend that was Rome? Ride the chariots of the pharaohs? Pursue the heretics? Defend the meek?

I have spent so many hours in this game and its predecessor M&B: Warband....and most of those hours were NOT spent on the vanilla game....

So, in conclusion: I absolutely recommend this game with all my heart....but not because of TW, but rather because of the amazing community of talented and tireless modders who are just the bee's knees.

I am posting this at 420 hours. You know why.

Wurm is a wonderful game, full of depth and complexity that you can gnaw on for decades.

I slept on this for 7 years. I just watched Mexico have another Revolution and attack the United States. Push through the learning curve. On the other side is infinite replayability.

This game was once great. Now, I do not recommend it. It is effectively abandonware. In memoriam.

I am leaving this review for a few reasons:

1. It is about to leave Early Access and I want to help those on the fence on launch.
2. The game is amazing and if you're even halfway interested in the theme as described; buy it. The day it hit it was good...and only got better as 1.0 got closer and closer with admirable regularity.
3. I just want to congratulate the dev team on a job well done. I have been around for quite some time and it has been an absolute joy to follow this game's progress. It rolled out steady, consistently good, and solid updates. The devs respond, react, and love their community and their game. I have absolutely NOTHING negative to say about this game, the way it was made, or the fun to be had on it. I am looking forward to sinking many, many hours in this beauty. What a diamond in the rough. Devs take note: THIS is how you do Early Access.

I've been playing this since you stuck it in a CD-ROM drive. It's like no other in all the best ways.

I mean, I'm still playing this game...still playing NEW THINGS...11 years after I bought it. Some of the best money I ever spent right here. I can't game like some, but even still I have a bunch of time in this game (for me). This is still the golden standard of milsim.

Your next act isn't even a question. If you've never played Arma 3...you obviously haven't been flung 30 km into the air and across the map by a static boulder mesh and have never truly lived.

As a fan of Conan speaking to other fans of Howard....get it. If you've read the books, seen Arnold, or even Momoa and LIKED it....get it. It is true to the source, visceral, and not for the faint of heart. Slavery is a FEATURE. Just like in the world of Hyboria...as you would expect. It is cruel to those who do not understand. The lore is rich and the world just REEKS of "sword 'n sorcery." Pay no heed to the negative reviews. They do not know what is best in life.

I'm barely getting started...but it is well-described when folks are calling it "EVE Offline" because that's exactly what it is. Quite an impressive accomplishment, and I am looking forward to spending many more hours here.

Let me make this easy. Shut up, stop reading, buy Kenshi. Suffer the lowest lows and highest highs for the next 400 hours and love every minute of this gem. Then, mod it. Enjoy another 400 hours. Or, just do something else. Literally anything. Another 400 hours.

Someone help. I'm really getting into this and the hours are stacking.
