I am a catterpiller

I have been eating lettuce all my life

and now I am fat and fatigued

waiting in my hardening cacoon

finally after 18 years of eating lettuce i can digest

and comprehend the greens myself

sit in my dank crevice and think

until I have matured and grown wings

but my stomatch is stirring and my mind is wandering

and I cannot grow with my body in such confusion

so I will sit here- forever? in my dank cacoon

digesting all the lies I have consumed

all my life I have been eating lettuce

without ever asking why
