I cannot believe I spent money on this piece of garbage

Whoever reviewed this game 9, 9.5 and 10/10 as well as positive on steam must have been drunk, drugged or had a pistol held at their head.
The cast is obviously the typical teenager horror one (from the 2022+ era where every game and movie must have specific types of characters so bums won't get offended), where you got the jock where here he is not even trying to be a cool and badass dude, he is just a cringe idiot that can't do anything besides fun of himself, the asian woman which tries to seem as the smartest and nonchalant person, the shy/introverted guy, the black nerd, another idiot who of course is gay (the black nerd is also gay) and the "jock"'s girlfriend who goes and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ records EVERYTHING IN THIS STUPID GAME TO POST ON HER ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SOCIAL MEDIA
oh and a random woman with dyed hair

WHY IS EVERY CHARACTER SO GEN Z AND STUPID ? EVERYTHING THEY DO IS ABSURD and not to mention that almost every CONVERSATION is CRINGE
Story is also typical, predictable and especially stupid

Also what the ♥♥♥♥ are those in game tutorials that are unskippable and don't match the tone of the game ?
It is UNBELIEVABLE to think that this game was made by THE SAME DEVELOPERS THAT MADE UNTIL DAWN WHICH IS AN AMAZING GAME and they also did Man of Medan which was good (and house of ashes and little hope were better than this)

the "jock" (I can t really call him a jock aside from the looks) is incredibly cringe and stupid and I cannot stand him 80% of the time, he does cringe moves and lines and tries to impress his ex girlfriend and that ex gf is a resemblance of majority of today's women that care about fame, social media and their relationship are just a fun little distraction for a period of time (SHE EVEN SAYS THAT)
The black nerd guy has such a deep voice that it doesn't even match his insanely skinny body but at least he is suffereable
The "hot" girl which looks worse without clothes on vlogs everything and thinks she is the center of attention and does anything she wants, I'm glad I opened that trapdoor and got her killed the first, couldn't bare her anymore
The gay guy should come from itself, everything from the voice, dialogues and movements are insanely cringe because he s always zesty, corny and cringe, totally unbearable
The introvert and the wannabe goth/emo girl are just stupid and cringe at times but at least I can stand them. As for the asian (which looks almost the same as Emily from Until Dawn) is bearable when she doesn't try to make herself look like the smart one.

To like this gen z ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass game, your taste must be insanely BAD or you must be in real life like one of these characters
Everything in this game is either stupid, cringe or and I haven't even finished it yet. It is an INSULT to their past games.

Sorry for my initial review, I was being held at gunpoint.

Short version: The game is boring, it lacks content, the PC port is awful because of how unoptimized it is, expansion is too expensive for what it offers, kameos make the game annoying, unfair at points and boring due to boring combo extensions, some characters have combos that are so boring due to their long animations, invasions is awful and pathetic, kombat league only has metas and the same 5 characters and kameos from the game with rare exceptions and it feels like you're playing against the same person each match


The only great things about this game: Graphics, characters, maps and animations.
After a year of this game being out and playing a few times every week I can say that it hasn't improved one bit, so much so that it even downgraded in some parts.

First of all this is a terrible pc port. The game runs fine in the beginning then it starts to lag like ♥♥♥♥ until you tune your PC settings, one of the things that actually help is to allocate virtual memory on your disk. That's a fix that works only for some people because this game is so stupid that a good amount of pc players have been having problems for different reasons. Each seasonal update F's the game's performance, making some things worse than they were before like stutters, fps drops, low fps, crashes, you name it.

Since the expansion came out I've been getting some new crashes such as crashing in invasions randomly, in online matches and I've even ♥♥♥♥♥♥ a blue screen once and I've had to reinstall my game to fix a few (mind you that a few months ago I've even reinstalled windows and it didn't fix the lag back then).

Story is mid to good-ish, however I can bet that this whole new timeline thing is just a reason for them to turn a few things woke in the game.
It's funny how you spend 50 euros for the Khaos Reign expansion which is just 10 euros less than the previous MK title and it's ABSURD that you pay so much for 6 new characters which the only interesting one is Ghostface and let's say maybe Noob cause he was always a cool character but here's this, 6 characters, 3 of which have already been in the past previous MK titles and 2 of them that are gender swapped which no one asked for. Sektor and Cyrax were already in the game but only as Kameos, I don't get it why didn't they make entirely new characters that could have simply been women instead of gender swapping 2 already good characters. They also look cringe and stupid when you see their face and I can't exactly explain why but that's something I've seen in movies and it just feels like that and I'm not racist but Cyrax's voice is annoying.
I can't believe that the expansion story is 1.5 hours and it's not even that good

"B-but they make the combos longer !" Stfu that's exactly one of the reasons why they suck
Most of the characters in this game can't pull combos or long enough to do damage combos by themselves, therefore they are carried by kameos. Because of the kameos and of HOW LONG some of the moves are the game becomes a SNOOZE fest. Get caught in Scorpion's combo and see how boring repeating the same moves becomes, you're gonna sigh when you realize you're in a combo, same with smoke which for me is the most boring character but thank god there's not so many players using him anymore and another example is Ermac when not only he does a 45-50% combo with 1 bar but he can also do that move where the ghost hold you upside down in the air 3 TIMES and it's painful and boring to play and also watch.
Now combine those trash moves with kameos that all they do is extend the combos like Sareena.
Besides the kameos making the game boring they also make it annoyingly unfair in some points. Take Ferra for example, that's just a character that does a 50-50 and plenty of times it works like what boy you can't start a combo on me ? Lemme just pull out Ferra which in reality it's just a random kameo that is based strictly on luck, not on skill.
Besides those two things, another great flaw of kameos is the grab combos which it's just unfair depending on the situation because ducking to avoid grabs is a read that you can do on a random thought or based on how your opponent plays and even then he can outplay you and most of the people, when at 40, 30 or 20%, won't risk letting the guard down, they're just stupid.

In Kombat League 90% of the matches are exactly the same 5 characters. The same characters with the same exact kameo and it feels like you're playing against the same person over and over and the worst is when they use metas like how many players use Scorpion and Ferra or Nitara and Ferra cause that ♥♥♥♥♥ got buffed and can do 45% meterless which is CRAZY, it's just awful.

The game lacks content. That's the first thing you'll notice when you go to customize characters or check the shop. It's insane how from so many outfits and 3 pieces of gears per model from MK11 we came to so less outfits with 1 gear piece. What's crazier is that there are BARELY new outfits per character and PER season, what we get instead are palettes which are just a different set of colors for the already existing skins but at least some of them have some cool new additions.
They're so lazy that in the new expansion they added 2 new HIDEOUS outfits for Mileena and Kitana and those are another variant of the MOHAWK skins which are AWFUL.

Invasions is one of the biggest pieces of ♥♥♥♥ ever made and to genuinely like that you must be an npc. You go around the maps fighting enemies, collecting points to upgrade your character, collecting key items to proceed to the next map and that's it. The only cool addition is some of the new survival minigames.
Invasions is also boring af, there's absolutely no reason to play that besides grinding for skins. Speaking of grinding for skins, hear this out:
Each season has a seasonal tower and that seasonal tower has cosmetic rewards. Everything fine for now. To get the HIGHEST skin in that tower you need to complete it 80 times. Can you believe that ? WHO in the team of developers played and thought that having to complete 80 towers is a good and fun idea ?
Last season I really wanted to get a Johnny skin and it was the last reward in the tower and after 55-60 towers I got sick of it. The arenas have random power ups and some enemies can have more stages of the fight so you need to find a good talisman that does the job for you but even so they nerfed all of them anyways cause why should you skip them if they re not good at least. Not to mention that the final reward, the Johnny skin, was a "COMMON" skin as if yeah, so common that almost everyone has it and it was also a skin from the campaign so it was absolutely nothing new. The skin was the one from the Wu Shi academy campaign level and check this, the new seasonal tower reward this season is the same outfit from that level but for Kenshi lmao, so much originality.

overall game is boring and you can't tell me otherwise since there were barely 500 viewers on twitch before the expansion and now it's at only 1k and the only person that's being watched is Sikander and his streams have more viewers than the whole twitch category and they watch because he's entertaining

The expansion's new arenas are amazing and the soundtracks are great too and they feel like real Mortal Kombat music, I wish we had soundtracks like that on every map

Maybe try to actually put some content into the game and balance the characters and fix issues on PCs, that would be a good start
