This game is beautiful. it is unique, fun and interesting. Part of what makes this game different from others, is its genre paired with its setting. As far as I know, there is no game with the same setting and gameplay that rivals Ancestors. Very rarely do games that offer open world exploration give the player total control of their character with very little paths set in stone for them to take. Of course, your end goal is to evolve into the most evolved species in the game, and that could take quite some time. But the sheer amount of things you can do in-between to progress your evolution is just baffling. The soundtrack and sound design is very well directed and I think it fits the game well. The visuals are beautiful for a game set in the heart of nature.

I love that there is no mini-map to ease walking around the map, it makes the game all the more unique and challenging - which begs the question: "what is the challenge?" - its your own patience and your ability to stay on track without straying off into the game's awes, which I have been doing since the start.

Though, there are a few things, I would say, that detracted from my enjoyment of the game. The movement is a little too slow for my taste, and it would be for others that jump straight into the game after playing hundreds of hours of FPS games, but I'm guessing it's just to add to the whole "take your time to appreciate the view" sort of idea. There are also quite a few visual bugs that are a pain to have to witness - one being the dodge and counter-attack animations, where if you're facing a small rock or tree to charge to, you'd clip right through them.

As it stands though, this is my favorite game and I still have a long way to go with it. I feel it is severely underrated and unheard of. If you enjoy slow paced exploring in a big world full of interesting stuff, go give this game a try, it's on sale right now too!

Edit:

I've completely finished the game and I still stand by the above.

Your review is lit! 🔥 It's like reading a mini novel, so much detail and passion. You're a pro at this, seriously!
