Early Access Review
Really wanted to vote with my wallet on this one and spend a lot of time with it. I hope it does continue to get content and support because it needs it and soon. By the time my first delivery of tanks was getting into combat I was already getting close to half way through each of the three Firepower, Mobility, and Structure tech trees.

There isn't much enjoyment to be had in making tanks currently, you have so limited options currently and the game revolves around making what the AI considers the best. Based on the contracts I had gotten there was no point in making Whippets which I was planning to invest in since I had not yet learned how limited the design aspect of the game was. I really wish there was more freedom with design, and the issue is that hull types are very specific to what they can do I.E. the Whippet hull can only mount specific parts. What that means is that every players Whippet tank is going to be more or less the same thing your Whippet will *have* to have a Medium hull, will *have* to have low profile running gear, and will *have* to have at most 4 MGs. I understand tanks of the time were pretty limited though this game has the benefit of being a game; let us be anachronistic, let me mount a cannon in a Whippet even if it's not good, let me mount low profile running gear on the larger Rhomboid Hulls, again even if it produces an objectively bad tank. For me, part of the appeal of a game like this is taking the benefit of hindsight in regards to tank theory and applying it to tanks in early 20th Century as it stands you can't really do anything creative or interesting with the tank designs and I get the feeling that later in the game tanks become pretty homogeneous and uniform.

As it stands I think there is a fundamental issue in how the game rates designs in that the better number usually wins when it comes to parts. There doesn't feel like there is a trade off in investing in either Firepower, Mobility, or Armor in designs. It's more "What are the best numbers that this hull allows me to cram into it." Based on my experience if the stats of parts and equipment doesn't get overhauled along with the AI's ability to request and choose tank designs then this game will forever have the "Best Numbers" problem no matter how many parts are added because there will always be a numerically best design for any given hull and once you do that it won't matter what nation you play or what time period, you will be encouraged into making the same statistically best tank every time.

The TL;DR is that there isn't much of a sandbox in this game to play with, and what is here is maybe an evening's worth of playtime before you get bored with it. I really really do hope the devs can improve on this and hopefully if they do I will gladly pay money for this game, currently however, I had to request a refund.

Early Access Review
Don't let my time fool you, I've been playing this game for a couple weeks now, I purchased it from their website. This game is fantastic, don't get me wrong it has bugs. Don't play this game if bugs ruin play experiences for you; it has only just released in Alpha 1a. However, it shows plenty of progress, the devs update their blog weekly and update the game every month, and they include the community greatly in the development via Parkitect Nexus.

That said this game fills that RCT2 niche super well; currently it only has a Sandbox mode and the money system isn't perfectly balanced yet. Although don't fret, at the time of writing this review the devs plan to spend the next couple of months vastly improving the game mechanics of Parkitect, not to mention the plethora of mods that are already available for a game in Alpha 1a. Wanted coaster cam? There's a mod for that! Wanted free camera movement and zoom? There's a mod for it! I really can't reccomend this game enough, the devs are very faithful, the community is strong, and the game's core mechanics and essence is just fantastic. If you liked RCT2 then purchase this game as soon as possible; or if you're worried about Early Access keep a very close eye on this game as they continue the development of this wonderful game!
