Scratches the card game itch better than any game I've tried since Slay the Spire.

Huge replayability and even more variety with the giant mod community.

I've been playing CA's games since the first Medieval Total War way back when. I don't say it lightly but this game already has the best campaign of the entire series, and the battles on Romance mode are fun. Optimization still needs a little work for siege battles but that is literally my only gripe.

First off, I came into the Total War series with the first Medieval and backtracked to Shogun when I discovered it in Best Buy. People are comparing this to the full Total Warhammer 1&2 games that CA has put out. They aren't comparable. If anything this is like another Expansion Pack of the old days with an adjusted price. It isn't a full price game and you get a ton of content with it. I like the new city systems, the army mechanic is the first one that has really made sense in the entire series history, it looks good, and there are really cool stories and narratives with each faction where you make decisions to decide your countries future. While it is slightly familiar to Age of Charlamagne, it has a generous amount of differences to make for a fun new game. If you like the Total War formula, you are going to like this game.

The early game for most Lords is very hard. Once you start getting mid and late tier units though, the battles are outrageously fun. Worth the price with so much to add to the game.

I only played the game for a few hours when it came out. I was disapointed. It was okay but not what it was trying to be. I started playing again with the NEXT update. I can safely say they have improved the game by leaps and bounds. It's no longer a grind, I don't feel like I need to pick up random stuff, exploring is fun now, and there is a narrative that can keep you somewhat on track if you want to. I am impressed with how far this game has come, hats off to the devs.
