tl;dr- I wouldn't recommend getting this game. I would rather play some No Man's Sky for a space sim, and an fps for a shooter. Bethesda tried to mash them and is lacking major qualities of both. Maybe once its 50% off it might be worth to mess around with some. But otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. (More thoughts below)

Not the greatest

After 16 hours I can confidently say the game seems like it should have come out years ago. With fantastic games like No Man's Sky already out, it shows how incredibly lacking Starfield is. With normal Bethesda bugs, like npcs glitching through objects, dead but still animating as though they are alive. Or trying to start a side conversation with the npc you are already talking to, so they just start blaring over top of the person you are talking to. Or things like resources clipping through the ground and hit boxes so you can't get them.

Not to mention you have to fast travel everywhere. You can't just fly to and from atmosphere like you can in No Man's Sky (Which is an online, multiplayer[/b] game by the way). No, you basically have to fast travel to and from every planet and atmosphere. Also, In games like Skyrim, you are surrounded by magic, and things to explore; In Starfield you have a thousand giant gray blobs with nothing on them that you have to spend an hour walking around just to find two minerals. It makes everything feel tedious rather than exploratory. I get they are going for a more realistic space feel, but if you are going to throw space plants and animals, you could at least add more interesting places to go.

AND to build off that, why have they made it so hard to walk from place to place. In Skyrim they gave us horses so we could traverse the land faster. Starfield has no land vehicles or mounts, which means it takes you 15 minutes to go to a location and all the way back to your ship and the only thing you had to look at on the way was gray rocks.

I am super happy with my pc, and it defaulted all of the settings on Ultra High. But my pc can only make gray blobs look so good; And to be honest, unless you are looking at a building or a ship, the world doesn't look that great. For how long they have been working on the game, you would think they could have hand crafted every world at this time. Instead, every time you land on a world, you are going to get a slightly different experience, even if its the same world, since its all terrain generated based on seeds. So if I see a mountain I want to land on while i'm on the ground, and I go back to my ship and try to land there. When I get out, there will no longer be a mountain as the world has changed/regenerated. Like what!?

All in all. I wouldn't recommend getting this game. I would rather play some No Man's Sky for a space sim, and an fps for a shooter. Bethesda tried to mash them and is lacking major qualities of both. Maybe once its 50% off it might be worth to mess around with some. But otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

My next step is testing out some of the mods i've been hearing about and see if they fix the mistake that Bethesda made.
