Within the story RPG games you have either Skyrim and Fallout that focus of exploration and doing random stuff with your character that you make, or either CRPG like Baldur's gate and Divinity original sin, that are focused on story but are top-down view and are not always fully voiced. Then there is Witcher. You don't make your own character, but are handed one called Geralt. This will be immediate bummer for some, but is actually well done by CDPR since Geralt has a great backstory that is interesting. He has a friends and relationships that you learn about and things in past you uncover. Overwhelming in the beginning, but soon you start to love and despise these characters. Side-quests were easily the best in any game. Once I finished this I went back and read ALL the books by the author and player Witcher 1, and 2, and then replayed this, and found a whole new appreciation for this game. Enough said, this game may not be for everyone (needs time to be put in and you cannot just do anything in it, and the combat is functional) but it is easily my favorite story-based RPG I have ever played.
