The breakingpoint of Bethesda.
Despite being a fan of Bethesda and having played hundreds of hours in Elder Scrolls and Fallout games from early age, i have to say that their new IP is absolutely horrible. Despite investing millions Bethesda is unable to keep up with smaller studios in Gameplay, Storytelling, Graphics and Level-/Audio Design. The only bad thing they haven't introduced yet are the XP booster packs from Ubisoft RPGs. But I am sure they are working on that.

Graphics & Animations
Starfields Graphics are mediocre at best. They lack a lot of depth and detail and look low-poly way too often. Combined with no physics for things like hair, not having things sway in the wind or be affected by bullets and having worse animations than skyrim and fallout we are looking at a downgrade. It truly looks like a half-complete 4K Texture-Mod for Fallout 4 with really bad modded animations. Crysis had a reactive environment that reacted to bullets 15 years ago.
Graphics and animations are way better in the recent A Plague Tale series from small french developer Asobo Studios. Animations and Character Detail, as well as Lighting and Shadows are A LOT Better and just look right. Starfield is a Desaster.

Leveldesign
The Leveldesign of Starfield is among the worst i have ever seen. The limitations of using an old and bad engine do not allow any of the great aspects of Bethesdas older Games. That being:
  • A vast open world you can explore freely
  • Unique encounters and locations wherever you go
  • Cities that feel believable and are fun to traverse
  • Random Encounters that are fun and interesting.
  • Interesting and unique Story Locations

Starfields world is enormous, not explorable without a loading screen and about as filled with unique locations as Bobby Koticks brain is filled with regret for what he did to Blizzard: None
Apart from the City Hubs, Nothing felt like a unique location. The Story Monuments are IDENTICAL and were fun exactly ONCE. ♥♥♥♥ THAT
Everything else is randomly generated and empty. Just empty. Yes you can explore every planet, however there is nothing there you can find. I stumbled upon the same bandit outpost that is just boring THREE TIMES IN 5 HOURS!
That is ridiculous. It tooke me 30 Hours to do that in No Mans Sky. And in No Mans Sky you do not need Fast Travel for it.
But this is Bethesda. There is only fast travel now. The fun thing about Bethesdas Leveldesign has always been finding things along the way and getting completely entangled in locations and quests you found along the way. They way you HAVE to walk is empty. Everything else you need to fast travel. This is even worse than the AC Origins to AC Valhalla, which were so big that you could literally put on auto travel and go make a coffee because getting somewhere took so long. But that game at least had unique locations that weren't generated. Similar sometimes, but never identical.
The cities look terrible. There is no way to find your way around without the map markers because the layout wont stick and doesnt make sense. In Fallout or Skyrim i needed the quest marker the first time i wanted to go somewhere, in Starfield i get lost when turning it off.

Gameplay
Starfield Gameplay is the same as Fallout 76s but with more loading screens, less enemy variety and even worse enemy ai. I do not know how they did that but i do not care to elaborate. Watch this if you care:

Audio Design
Bethesdas Audio Design is bad. There is 1 looped Audio file for each sound in the game and footsteps and they do not at all react to different surfaces, add reverb while in buildings or anything like that. Gun sounds or Ship Engines lack Power to it. That is on the level of unmodded Skyrim.

Technical Stuff
Starfields Engine is Outdated and needs to be revised completely the game has subpar FPS on an RTX 4080 and a 5800X. The Vkd3d Dev has pointed out several isses with the graphic rendering pipeline and even provided open-source fixes for it. Bethesda has obviously not used them to this day. It has also been stated that those things are rookie mistakes that should not happen at a billion-dollar-company. The only explanation i can think of is that the old devs who knew what they were doing all quit.
The Animation Framework is the same as in Fallout 4 and there fore Animations look as bad as they did back then. They were already outdated a bit when fallout released, but back then is wasn't that bad.
Additionally, Starfield suffers from lots of bugs like every other Bethesda Game, but Patches and Fixes have been few and far between.

The Creation Engine used to be beloved for its modding capabilities, but that is not enouh to be able to ignore the technical problems the game will face. Additionally, many modders have announced that they will not be modding starfield. Even some Community Patch Modders have announced that they will not work on a Starfield Community Patch. This is just sad and goes to show how others think of the game.

Story
I have not played the game long enough to really be able to fully review the story. I do, however, not remember a single thing about it. In fact i do not remember any quest. But even now i remember an old The Witcher 3 quest with the old Lady's Frying Pan. It is a 5 Minute Side-Quest and i just can't forget it.

Conclusion
Don't buy this game. It is a ripoff

Great Game to play with the source Engine. Fun Gamemodes, large amount of Workshop addons. Map Editor Tricky to set up though
