My first 29.3 hours of game play were consecutive.

(176 hours and a completed play through at time of edit) This game was clearly crafted with so much care, love, and intention. The voice acting is superb and really does wonders for the script writing and storytelling, truly engulfing you in the world of Baldur's Gate. Party members have their own opinions, feelings, personalities, and really feel like fleshed out people as part of a team rather than characters to help move the plot of the chosen one along.
I initially bought this game because I wanted to get to know the characters, as party member interactions and friendships are my favourite aspect of RPGs (thank you, Mass Effect) and my expectations were definitely met, if not exceeded.

Gameplay itself feels like a true digital interpretation of a tabletop D&D session, in my experience. If you're familiar with D&D already, the equipment rules, combat turns, and skill checks will feel natural, and if you're unfamiliar with D&D they are simple enough to catch on to. The "trickiest" thing I had to get used to was controlling the camera angles on my keyboard, that's about it.

The world inside Baldur's Gate 3 is the most unrestricted RPG world I've been in. While you have your journal to keep track of your quests, you can do as much or as little exploring outside of the main quest as you'd like (which can impact your storyline and character relationships). Your character can be as mean or as nice as you prefer, you can attack literally anyone, recruit surprising party members, or go it alone. You have control over practically every aspect of your part in the story whether it be order of interactions, accepting quests or not, class-, race-, or region-specific dialogue options, it truly feels as if Baldur's Gate is in your hands.

I'm already plotting my next playthrough.
