A fun, if simple, crpg.
Decent combat (although 9 total skills between the 3 characters in combat is very lacking), a nice world with good environments, OK (limited) voice acting. Runs well, looks nice, an OK game.

Played this a couple of years ago, and it is better than anything Bethesda has written. Looking forward to play through again to see what has been added :)

Positives

A dark and brooding London that oozes atmosphere
Excellent voice acting
Really, really good music that fits the tone of the game perfectly.

Negative

The combat could be a little bit better, especially early on when you are weak.

An enjoyable vampire game that tried to do something a bit different. The illusion of choice is good, although the choices you make do not really impact the ending in any meaningful way.

Be warned, however, that this is not an action game. It is very wordy with a lot of dialogue.

Edit.

As of patch #2 on the 20th Decemeber, I have changed my recommendation of the game to positive. The introduction of the "classic" combat option has improved the game beyond all measure for me. It feels so, so much better to play and feels like a proper Darksiders game now.
Thankyou Devs :)

3 hours into the game, and I am so conflicted.

I loved the first 2 games, espeically Darksiders 2, but this game just doesn't feel right. First of all, I do not like the change to the Dark Souls style system - your xp (souls) are dropped on death, the autosave waypoints are too far apart, and all the mobs respawn, meaning you either spend 5 minutes fighting, or just running past them, which just serves no purpose in my view. On top of that, the game just feels too difficult. I felt like a bad-ass playing as War and Death. Fury just feels so weak. She dies in 4 hits from a normal mob on Balanced difficulty, and unless you time the dodge perfectly, you will get hit. And woe betide if you ever get surrounded, as they will just hit spam you to death without you being able to do a thing. So gameplay wise, it has taken a big step backwards, in my opinion.

On the plus side however.... The world is nice, the gfx are perfectly acceptable, the zelda style skill upgrades still seem to be there, the 2 weapons I have found so far can be upgraded and have items slotted to them to give you bonuses.

I wish Steam had an "OK" option rather than the binary good/bad they have currently, as this game would fit perfectly into the OK category. However, because of the change in gameplay dynamics (If I wanted to play a Dark Souls style game, I would play Dark Souls), I will have to give the game a not recommended, which breaks my heart.

I love the franchise, but this is (so far) a change too far for me.

I will update this when I have finished the game, perhaps I will get better and enjoy the gameplay more :)

A charming top-down SNES style action RPG, set in a fictional MMO world. Great combat, tricky puzzles, and a ton of content.

Finally this game is becomming what was imagined 2 years ago. I have to applaud the developers for sticking with the game and bringning out quality free updates. It would have been all too easy to just take the millions they made at launch and ride off into the Sunset.
If you have this in your library unplayed since launch, I would recommend to give this another try. The basic game loop has not changed much (although they have added a story now), but as a sandbox/exploring game, it has become a lot of fun and can only get better if they keep up the quality of the updates.

Laura is best Waifu :)

An amazing game, filled with great characters, fun battle system, amazing music and very good voice acting. If you liked the first game, then this is better in every department. My 95 hours playtime just flew by. I cannot wait for the third game in the series.
