I dunno if I can say anything that hasn't already been said.
Blending God of War with Zelda and then throwing in Diablo is an... interesting idea.
I'll just be up front that the game is kinda janky. It's NOT the best console port and I wouldn't recommend M+KB to anyone for this game.

However. It's religious fanfiction by way of heavy metal album covers exploring the Book of Revelation. It's fantastic. The real world is brown and boring while the fantastical realms are drenched in purples, golds, and greens with towering, twisted architecture and crawling with malformed, snarling enemies. The loot is plentiful and gallons of demon blood will flow.
(Sidenote, the only spoiler for D1's ending is Nathaniel the angel's sidequest. You can complete this game in its entirety without playing D1, though I would recommend them in order as 1's a little clunky and can be annoying to go back to)

The combat is quick and responsive, Death is agile and has multiple skills at his disposal from being a summoner that lets his minions fight to being a melee powerhouse that crits every strike for huge damage. The story is fun, lots of twists on different mythologies and mixing together different creation stories to create the setting. Deathinitive fixes my MAJOR problem with the original release of Darksiders 2 and its DLC by sprinkling the DLC weapons into the game instead of being given to you via the in-game mail, and making certain weapons level WITH you thereby keeping them from being entirely useless 15 minutes after you get them.
Even though a properly built Possessed weapon outclasses pretty much everything, the DLC armors are fantastic. Particularly the later ones. DLC missions themselves are fun and interesting, from the Mad Forge that was a challenge to the Belial fight.

Anyway, I've played this game at least 3 times and am a couple hours from 100% on the hardest difficulty. The game is just that fun. HIGHLY recommended.

Absolutely amazing piece of work. It's old, and it shows, but damn is it a lot of fun. It's responsive, fast-paced, and sometimes downright frantic. Great selection of weapons, interesting map layout, and customizeable bot behavior make for lots of replayability, even offline. There are still servers running for this game! If that doesn't say something, nothing will.
