Some of the most fluid, challenging, but fair 3D PC platforming I've ever played. Masterful art and presentation as well; I am eager for the full release. No reason to not play this free demo.

The Talos Principle is not only one of my favorite puzzle games, but favorite games of all time. This sequel is a worthy successor and stands tall in its genre, but is hampered by its own ambition. The setting and narrative are natural extensions of the first game, and I can't think of any particularly better ways to execute them. The game is most interesting on a metanarrative level I think as the protagonist from the first game develops a personality as an npc. Nevertheless, I think that the narrative of the first game is tighter. The environments are beautiful, but do get somewhat repetitive to traverse. The puzzles are broadly easier but no less fun, but new mechanics are introduced so frequently that they aren't thoroughly tested as much as the base mechanics introduced in the first game. While I do appreciate how there's no absurdly hidden collectibles from a progression standpoint, there is a lack of completely unmentioned and wacky secrets from the first game. The music is also broadly not as good as the first game's magnificent soundtrack, although there are some supreme bangers that stand with its predecessor.

The wonderful meta-commentary of the first release ported to Unity with several hours' worth of new content; one of the best first person exploration games of all time.
