Baldur's Gate 3 has been an absolute pleasure to play, and has been an incredible return to form considering how long ago its predecessor was released. It's hard to put into few words, but Larian have managed to culminate years of experience with careful and well thought out design choices that have resulted in something artistically beautiful and narratively compelling, all with a surprising amount of freedom in gameplay. Having played many games in my time, I found that usually something had to be sacrificed in order to excel in any particular area - however BG3 has exceeded all of my expectations and then some. It's been a very long time since I almost felt sorrowful that the journey came to an end, but I am grateful having had it. I think both the development team at Larian and the voice actors have done a superb job in creating this masterpiece.

I could never say something is perfect, but this is close, minus a few bugs and glitches here and there. It's almost expected when a game is as wide and deep as this. For example, the worst offender were certain companions throwing themselves at you, which almost feels buggy at times. One particular occasion I had to turn down the same party member (Gale) down 3 times, and sometimes the dialogue options seemed way too overly harsh. It might simply be a double edged sword where modern games need unisex romance options, however it makes more sense that our adventuring party eventually becomes best friends. I'll always consider Mass Effect's Shepherd / Garrus friendship to be one of the best.

Pros:
Some of the best voice acting I've heard yet in a videogame.
Stunning visuals and a beautiful OST to accompany your adventure.
Almost too much replayability with the slew of available origin characters to choose from.
Satisfying combat allowing for strategy and freedom of gameplay.
A sheer mass of content to explore and enjoy.
Genuinely lovable party members - even the ones I wasn't fond of still feel like friends.

Cons:
Act 3 feels slightly more rushed and less polished than the previous acts.
Some dialogue feels hamfisted and several romance options in particular seem forced upon you out of the blue. I feel this could have been improved with more obvious 'start romance' options.
Some bugs towards the end of the game regarding smaller choices made earlier in the game, but nothing too major.
