Really sad to see how far Bethesda has fallen, started playing their games back with Daggerfall. I love RPGs and I love space-themed games so I fell for the hype on this one.

But it is absolutely mid. I've sunk 1000s of hours into Elite Dangerous between multiple versions and even though it is also a space game where the "map" is huge and mostly empty, it has still managed to have gameplay and stories (pushed by player communities/factions) that keep me going back.

Starfield on the other hand got boring after 50-60 hours. What choices you are given are merely illusions of choice. Pick 'Nice response", 'Mean response", or "I'm edgy troll lol lol" response. No excuse for how garbage the "flying" is. Temple swim dance got boring after the first 2. No point in making outposts. Ships all feel samey and when there is only the most basic of flying and fighting in them, also seems pointless to try and build ships.

This is the most disappointed I've been with a game since NMS original release but I highly doubt Bethesda will turn this one around like Hello Games did with NMS.

If youre looking for a space-themed RPG, avoid Starfield at all costs. Plenty of other great options to choose from, from No Mans Sky, Elite Dangerous, to Everspace 2, X4, and the list goes on.

Has to be a meme that this garbage won Most Innovative Gameplay because it is the most outdated, mediocre game I've played in years. Shame on you Bethesda.

Before playing this game, I didn't consider myself a huge fan of the souls/soulslike genre of games, though I have played through large parts of previous FromSoft titles from the early Kings Field games, to the original Demons Souls, and Dark Souls I and II. So while Elden Ring was on my radar, I wasn't really part of the hype train leading up to its release.

But it didn't take me long to get hooked on Elden Ring and it quickly became one of my favourite games of all-time. With the addition of an open world map, the tedium of grinding to be able to progress from the souls games that came before turned into one of the reasons I still enjoy many open world games still in 2023: because it gives a reason for exploring the world in a route that comes much more naturally and makes your progression feel much more organic. And Elden Ring also manages to make the open world diverse while maintaining one of the best, most cohesive and unique art and world-building styles I've seen in an RPG.

A damn near perfect experience from start to finish and one of the best games I've ever played.

Having been an early access player, I was worried that the full release wouldn't live up to the hype, but I was wrong. Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the most enjoyable RPGs I have ever played, and my first RPGs were SNES classics like FFVI, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, etc. I put ~160 hours in to my first playthrough. I rarely, if ever, replay games, but I know I will replay this and do an evil play through.

There is so much to do and see and it feels like your choices actually matter. Its a shame that in 2023 more developers aren't putting time into crafting a world that is large and diverse and has full motion capture for all of the (incredibly well-done) voice acting. Playing BG3 reminded me a lot of how I felt playing Fallout 3. But as we've seen with Starfield, Bethesda hasn't evolved hardly at all since then. BG3 has now set the standard for CRPGs and maybe even RPGs as a whole going forward.

If this game had done a little more to push boundaries, it would be a perfect 10/10. But as it stands still one of the best, most polished RPGs of all-time and I think will stay on that list for years to come.

More than worth the 7.50 or so I paid during the steam sale for it. An absolute joy to play. I definitely recommend this game, but be warned: they make you ______ your own brother.

This game has fun puzzles with multiple solutions, a cute story, hilarious collectible npcs and items, and is an absolutely great example of what an indie game can be: simple, unique, and fun. 8.5/10
