Non-Spoiler Review

CHIYO does well what it intended to be: an escape puzzle in a horror theme environment. I'm impressed with the length that the team went through to populate the game with Japanese elements. On top of enjoying my time with the game, I end up learning a bit more on Japanese culture and things.

It took me about 6 hours to complete the game, longer than what I expected game of this type to cost me. I'm happy to see some classic riddles and puzzles back in modern gaming and to top it off with the danger of horror lurking. Some puzzles are a lot easier while some are harder to figure out what it exactly wants. One gripe I have with the game is how much it relies on Japanese's Kanji. To some people with experience, it may take much less time to solve the puzzle for that reason, while those without might take too long just trying to decipher the shapes of the kanji.

The story is quite captivating, but I felt like its still missing some tiny pieces here and there. Definitely a room for improvement here, but it does not affect the gameplay much.
