This game is a Bethesda game. That's the only way I can properly market this review. While I did enjoy some key components and aspects of the game, I cannot in good faith recommend this to anyone at the price tag right now, nor would I recommend it in the state it's in.

There's just something so, "empty" about the game itself. I thought exploring the multitude of worlds would bring some sort of excitement to the game, but there is something to point out: too much can be overbearing. Fallout 4's world was a decent size to offer enough exploration while encompassing world-building into it, but this is too much for me. In short, this is a cake with no filling. Not even any of the cities in the game offer a decent form of storytelling, and that stinks with the narrative that's being driven here.

This brings me to my next point: the story. I hate to say it, but I had no care for the way the story was being pointed towards. There was little to no moments where the game had me out of my seats, a part from one moment that actually did catch my eye, but I'd rather keep that to myself. The hardest part of a game is to connect the audience with the character, sometimes it's easy, but other times it's hard to create a character that connects deep with the audience. I tried my best to feel a sense of connection with the characters in this game, but nothing stuck. Maybe it did for other people, but not for me.

The space combat is uneventful, often times frustrating with the auto-lock mechanic refusing to work at times which impedes the fun of the system itself. Which brings me into combat alone; I did enjoy some more engagement with gunplay (like weapon sway, I did enjoy that as my own opinion), but the combat variation is repetitive and/or boring.

Now as for crafting and modding and all that jazz. I will be completely honest, this was perhaps the absolute weakest part of the game for me. Modding is an absolute essential for building the ultimate weapon or creating the perfect piece of armor. This was always something to look forward to in any RPG as it grants more versatility in lines of defense or other forms of it. With how confusing the modding system was, I barely even considered thinking about touching a crafting station the entire time that I was playing. Re-encorporating the workshop mechanic from Fallout 4 into an Outpost mechanic barely worked for me. Ship building was too confusing for me. None of it worked in the way that I could easily understand it. And I want to state for the back of the room, this is from how I played. Maybe I skipped over some essential part of the game that would go into more detail, but I could barely comprehend a lot of the mod requirements alone from the station. In the end, I just all-around brushed past it.

To end, I want to reiterate my point: this is a Bethesda game. Does this mean this is the worst game in the world? No, there are other games worthy of such a title. However, I will not go around saying this needs to be nominated for game of the year, this is FAR from that. However, there is a lot of potential for this game to grow and become better. However, just like the vast space of the game itself, it needs to find where it is and point itself in the right direction.
