This one is really something else. What a powerful journey! Top shelf.

Oof. You're going to care and you're going to grow if you're prepared let go.

From the moment the game loaded to a usable state about half an hour after hitting play (OK I guess the shader calculation thing was worth it, it's a great looking game) I was sucked in so deeply the only way I could claw my way back out was when the game decided to start stuttering horribly at the beginning of every scene and then randomly throughout (from about three hours in until the bitter end), causing the audio and video to lose sync as well as making me fail on a number of the (reasonably forgiving) "mash 'W' now" or "hit 'Q' and 'E' hahaha no I didn't mean that at all I meant choose to hit either 'Q' or 'E' haha sucker you failed" or "hope you're looking at this part of the screen because you have a fraction of a second to press 'D' haha you failed" moments that are often perfectly timed to come outta nowhere when you thought you were being given the opportunity to sit back and enjoy a well-directed cinematic moment.

OK, that was a long sentence. I am still a little upset that what could have been quite an "I haven't felt that from a game since Indigo Prophecy knocked my 20-something socks and/or rocks off" experience was greatly diminished because after I was committed it didn't want to play nicely on my well-within-spec PC.

The game's main menu "interface" was almost brilliant. Almost worth it. Unfortunately, it too only managed to disappoint when it wasn't quite as intelligent as a little more play testing could have made it appear. I mean, build a branching flowchart for that scene/story as well and wowee you would have been onto something.

Is the game worthy of your time and money, even if you have to suffer through it like I did? Yes, clearly I think it is because I chose to suffer through it! Do I want to see what could have been? No. This pretty damn good experience has ended.

What I want to see next is a game that gets me attached to characters like this one does but isn't about their stories. I want to know I'm going to gain and lose a lot of companions, opponents, etc. and I'm going to want to remember them, but I don't want to be tempted to drive an interaction one way or another in the hope the game says the choice I just made takes them that much closer to loving or hating me.

This existence isn't good and evil, it's not black and white. It's not a little bit of both. It just is, and I'd like to be able to come to terms with that.

Kept coming back to this one. It has a great atmosphere and is easy to play and enjoy.

Always satisfies the urge to walk up to some shirtless tosser and punch him in the face.

Awfully boring garbage that offers so little content it's disguised as a "roguelike" so you can play through the same game (with randomised levels wowee) ad nauseam to level up your... wait for it... protagonist suffering from amnesia (give me a break geeeeeesh).

I can't go on. I need a snack with flavour.

I solved it in my way. I lolved it in every way.

GUNPOINT provides exactly the experience all games should aspire to. Give it a run and you'll be wowed, repeatedly, just as I have been.

Top marks!

Every element of the game shows promise, but lacks any semblance of fun.

Do fewer things and do them well.

Nothing in the game has captured or charmed me, be it the sound, graphics, story, combat, skills, loot...
It doesn't bring anything new to any table.
A mindless hack and slash that, after 15 hours of stubborn persistence, hasn't given me any motivation to keep playing.
See ya!

Brilliant game that is worth every penny, even at full price (it's cost me only 7c / hour at the time of posting this review :-D).

Campaign mode really stood out for me. The developers put in a great deal of thought around supporting various mission types across various landscapes. A great mix of tactical options are available to overcome (AI or human) opponents in every level.

The part that has me hooked is how open and accessible the game is for modding, from making character, weapon, building, and vehicle reskins, to custom maps, to scripting entirely new game modes. The RWR Discord server has a very active modding group who are always willing to share everything they know about making the game even more than you thought it was.

Give RWR a run. Two thumbs up from this guy!
