I have been playing CS since 2001. For a while, I played on a professional team, and I refereed two international tournaments. As a player (not just a person), I’m already old and have no chance against professional players. My reaction time to visual stimuli is now slightly higher than 185ms. In my best years, it was below 180ms, which is the level required to be among the top players in the world. These days, I play just for fun, sometimes with a drink in hand. Ergo, sometimes I perform well, and people call me a cheater; other times, I perform poorly, and they call me a noob.

I have always approached the game technically, which is why my settings are tailored to find the best compromise between aiming speed and precision for my hand — considering the length of my forearm, the way I hold my mouse, and my playstyle. In my opinion, there's no point in setting the "zoom_sensitivity_ratio" to anything other than 1. If you adjust the sensitivity to suit yourself properly, it will work well for both zoom and no zoom shots. The problem is that, in the game's settings menu, you can only set sensitivity with a precision of two decimal places. For example, with 400 DPI, a sensitivity of 1.91 results in an eDPI of 764, while 1.92 gives an eDPI of 768. To fine-tune the eDPI to match your hand precisely, you need to set it with a precision of 1/10. This is why you should create an autoexec.cfg file and set the sensitivity value there.

For instance, for me, the perfect eDPI is 742.7. With these settings, my hand practically aims by itself. Fun fact: the average mouse sensitivity (eDPI) of the top 10 CS2 players in the world in 2023 was 764.

And since I mentioned DPI, remember to set it on your mouse to achieve the lowest SRAV (Smoothness-related Accuracy Variance). This parameter defines how steadily the sensor tracks movements at different speeds. For 99% of mice on the market, SRAV will be lowest at 400 DPI.
