Getting a bit too personal here, aren't we?

Secret Word: Love

This game is the ultimate difficulty spike, but instead of it coming up an hour in, you hit the peak of it the moment you start playing. Refunding.

Let me make one thing clear: I loved this game.
No, seriously. The horror elements, the little puzzles (I didn't mind being told what to do, I tend to need that due to the fact that I'm not always good at puzzles), the card games, the fact that the game got more and more expansive every time you died. This game was shaping up to be one of my, if not my favorite game ever made (Yes, it was on the level of Undertale and Our Life for me. That's very hard to hit).
And then we get to Act 2. Spoilers from here on out, but TL;DR: If you like this game for what it is advertised as, DO NOT BEAT IT. Die at the final boss and repeat that cycle. Trust me, you'll be better off.
And so of course, the marketing deceived us. I will admit, I got curious and looked up a few things. I thought people were exaggerating. I thought "Hey, maybe the genre is gonna shift to more walking around or be more based on escape rooms and puzzles instead of the maps. I can cope with that." BUT NO. INSTEAD, IT GOES 2D! Not even lying to you, the battle system almost looked unrecognizable due to how suddenly they changed things. Instead of the only thing that was in the demos besides the footage (which was totally cool and I enjoyed seeing it) WE GET 2D! And I'm guessing that the "Escape Room" part is literally just Act 1 (take that with a mountain of salt though, I don't have confirmation). Welp.
Look, Daniel, you're really good at what you do. But here's the thing: No one would be mad if you advertised the game as something with a genre shift. Did Doki Doki have a genre shift? Yes, but it did not change the core gameplay, and therefore there didn't need to be a warning (besides the obvious trigger warning). For something like this, where it changes the entire gameplay, style, and completely alienates you from Act 1, THERE NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING TO INDICATE THAT THE GENRE SHIFTS. HARD.
I wish I could love this game. I really do.
I hope the team takes this project as a learning experience and makes the best parts even better. Just don't neglect giving people what's advertised because you want an ARG.

The community is way too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ toxic. Slurs are not filtered properly at all. Don't play unless moderation goes up HARD.

This game is incredible. However, there is one problem...

It took me two years to beat this game on any mode, and I love it so much.

I'm sure this game is great when you go through it more, but I am making this review for everyone else who might be considering buying this game and is also on the ace spectrum or is triggered by NSFW content. Nudity is NOT as far as it goes. This game is mistagged. I think it's great otherwise, and if it wasn't mistagged I wouldn't have bought it and this review wouldn't exist. But as a repulsed asexual person, please do not buy this if NSFW is a trigger for you. In the first 2 hours due to me being someone who likes to see everything, I witnessed several people having sex and had my girlfriend give me a porn photo that was probably her own body. The stuff I've seen so far is great and I like the emotions with helping the old woman so much. But I have to make this a negative review due to my own personal experience. A nudity TW is not enough with this type of content.
