Upfront, as an assiduous Resident Evil fan, this is hands down the best game of the franchise. The amalgam of horror, along with the amazingly fluid motion of the gun control, is an utter satisfaction to the player. Moreover, although mostly independent from the other games story-wise, the plot is truly engaging and urges you to learn more about what's behind Ashley's kidnapping. Some of the characters are still from Resident Evil 2, which creates a nice connection. The story is really linear, and you feel the adventure alongside the protagonist.

The puzzles are not as hard as in other games, so do not expect many puzzles in Resident Evil 4; it's not really a thing here. Instead, one should expect action and quick-time events! The action is definitely one of Resident Evil 4's main focuses. The large number of enemies swarming you at certain moments requires not only good aiming but also strategy. Although the aiming may be fluid, I find it a bit slow compared to other games. Nonetheless, it does not hinder nor detract from your gaming experience. The character control is also pretty solid, and this applies to all characters. However, you will struggle with camera positioning at times, especially in close quarters when you're overwhelmed by enemies. Aside from that, the gameplay is top-notch.

If you haven't played this game yet, go for it—you won't regret it. It is considered the best Resident Evil (by most of the fans) for a reason, right? Definitely not overrated!
