The game is merely okay, but it's riddled with bugs and glitches that completely remove you from the experience.

Can't go wrong with this, really.

So, this game isn't really anything special in terms of story or writing, but that's what I think sells it. There's a feeling of nostalgia for anyone that dealt with AIM, and they got the feeling of the chat program very right. Words are mispelled, grammar is out the window, and you can see the character typing things only to decide to delete them later. Also, you can watch the other side to see how much Emily is editting her thoughts as well. I like the feeling of mashing keys on the keyboard to get the text to appear on the screen. For some reason, it just feels nice. I wish I could have talked to the other characters your main guy knows, not just those two. Still, it's free and it's short. Try it.

This game had so much potential. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing, and the story and basic premise had me hooked. However, bad gameplay decisions destroyed my enjoyment. What could have been very scary and creepy became frustrating and boring. The game is way too dark, and oftentimes I couldn't see where I was supposed to go. I'm aware that sometimes they used darkness as a mechanic, but the times I'm talking about were where the darkness itself wouldn't kill you. First person platforming is annoying enough. It's even more annoying when it's impossible to see where you can jump without turning your brightness way up and squinting really hard. Besides that, there were a few times I felt I was on a pixel hunt, and the statues with spears event was not put together well.

This is an arena shooter where your shots and kills affect the background soundtrack. In terms of gameplay, it's pretty average. There are many games that use the concept better than this one. There are unlockables, but there doesn't really feel like it has a sense of progression.

This controller is actually really great once you get used to this, and there are many times that I prefer it to another controller or mouse and keyboard. It's biggest disadvantage is that it's tied to the steam software. For that reason, you can't have custom controls for any games not sold through steam, and when steam decides to update while the game is open, the controller stops working properly. It really needs its own standalone software, but as it is, I enjoy using it a lot.

The game is great, it has amazing atmosphere and good gameplay. Just wish it wasn't so easy to get lost. Also, there are some problems with newer systems. It used to support the controller, but doesn't now and I don't know why

An attempt to take the first person shooter down to it's barest bones. The problem with this game is that it doesn't feel statisfying or like any sort of accomplishment when you actually succeed, and when you fail, it feels cheap.

While the interface and the animation can be a little bit clunky, the story is engaging.

The Cave was a really great game that gives you characters who are morally corrupt, forcing you to take the actions that they took in order to progress. However, I feel there was a lot of wasted potential in not having a non-corrupt method of solving the puzzles, like the Justine DLC for Amnesia, making it very difficult and possibly requiring knowledge of what went wrong in order to know what to avoid. I thought that maybe I could use other character's powers to circumvent the choices made, but it turns out even if you avoid the actions you were condemned for, they happen anyway. It feels like so much wasted potential. Still for what is there, it's a very solid game and I don't regret playing it.
