Metaphor is an odd game. On one hand you have some of the most stunning visuals and menus in video game history, and a fantastic battle system that completely revamps and refreshes the standard SMT/Persona combat. On the other hand you have a story with the subtlety of a piano falling down a set of stairs, that feels like it was written by the most ambitious of western AAA activists with no oversight. Plus the horrendously balanced late game bosses.

Even as a veteran of Atlus style games I was caught off guard by just how poorly the new system is explained at the beginning, and subsequently frustrated by just how little every lesson put in place to teach you the game mattered at the end. That doesn't mean there wasn't value and accomplishment in the process, but rather that someone new to SMT style games is going to have one hell of a time getting used to this learning curve. There are other more minor issues such as the most optimal way to reset a battle being to flat out close and reopen the game (like seriously, why is that THE recommended way to reset challenges), but none that are so critical as to make the game an instant drop.

I assume that the inevitable rerelease of this game under a new name will bring about a variety of QOL changes, but that still won't fix just how awful the story is. If you like SMT/Persona games then you can enjoy it for that aspect, otherwise just go buy Persona 5.

If your game can't even be played without scouring a wiki for hours on end, it isn't "Esoterically difficult", it's a bad game

If your combat system is purposefully sluggish and obnoxious to raise difficulty, it isn't difficult, it's a bad game

If your system for leveling up is heavily dependent on certain builds and certain builds alone, it isn't "Beginning unfriendly", it's a bad game

Assuming you both play daily and are attacked once per day (which is a bold assumption as there's usually only one every couple or so) it will still take you roughly a decade and a half to earn the Epic Defender achievement

Surprisingly dull. All of the mystery and intrigue from the first game is gone, and Aloy is now just utterly unlikable

Check it out
I'm in the house like carpet
And if there's too many heads in my blunt I won't spark it
I'll put it in my pocket and save it like rocket fuel
'Til everybody's gone and it's cool
Then I spark it up with my brother
His momma named him Mo, but I call him Mo' Lover
And he's more than a cover, he's a quilt
We're putting ♥♥♥♥ together like that house that John built
On the hill, 'cause this ♥♥♥♥'s gonna feel like velvet, turtle
My style fits tighter than a girdle
If ya hate it then you can just leavе it, like Beaver
But in a day or two I'll makе you a true believer in me
'Cause like the alphabet you'll see
That 'ism kicks a rhyme, not your everyday soliloquy
Like Chef Boyardee, my rhyme is truly cookin'
Peace to Matty Rich 'cause he's straight out of Brooklyn, New York
I don't eat pork or swine when I dine
I drink a cup of Kool-Aid, not a big glass of wine
Or a Henn', Heine', if you have time I'll drop rhyme again
