Hell Let Loose – It's Not Just a War Game to Me

I suffer from anxiety, depression, and social phobia. Strangers? Terrifying. Voice chat? Often impossible. Playing a multiplayer team-based game? Impossible for a very long time.

And then Hell Let Loose came along.

I just wanted to do something new with a friend at first — nothing too big. But game by game, step by step, something odd and lovely occurred: I began to speak. Small at first. A "copy" here, a "thank you" there. But it grew. Piece by piece, this game allowed me to break down the walls of my social anxieties. And not because it coerced me — but because it made me comfortable enough to attempt.

There’s something magical about how Hell Let Loose encourages cooperation over performance. Nobody cares if you’re not a sharpshooter. What matters is that you’re there — calling out enemy positions, dropping supplies, reviving someone under fire. Even when my hands are shaking from anxiety, this game gives me a role, a voice, a reason to speak.

So yeah. Maybe for others, it’s “just a game.”
But for me, Hell Let Loose is something of a therapy.
