Similar to Digseum this is a cute little game in which you can see the developer put a lot of thought and love when it comes to the game concept and design of the game.
Main reason why I am giving it a positive review is because, unlike Digseum, it has a much more active gameplay loop in which the player is actually engaged with the levels.

But just like Digseum it suffers from similar if not the same issues, and those are that it feels like a school project for the final grade to which the extra 1 or 2 hours of playtime were added so you can't finish it inside the steams refund window.

This feeling is very evident because after a few updates the game just lets you be there to exist and finish the levels even tho the levels themselves should be progressively harder or at least more challenging.
I'd say after lvl 15 or 18 prestige everything else is just simply a time filler.
To the point that some higher talent tree points have no meaning at all, like the one which gives you extra yellow components.

The game mechanics are fun and the price is right, but I truly wish the dev would come back and smooth out the pacing of the game in the endgame part. I have no regrets about buying the game but it feels as such a waste to leave this fun little gem in such a close to perfection state when it would take maybe a few weeks or less to smooth out the gameplay loop pacing.

Cheers and here is to hopefully seeing more creative games from you in the future.

It is a cute game and I can see it was made with love and care, but I can also see that it was made as a school project because it is evident when you play it that the extra 2h were simply added so the playtime to finish the game would be greater than 2h.

While the price of the game is more than fair, I can't really recommend it unless the developer comes back to it and actually adds content to fill those extra 2h of endgame.

While I did enjoy the feel of the game, the mechanics of it were rather simple and not engaging at all after the first prestige. If there were keyboard shortcuts I think you could finish the game in less than two hours.

It's a shame that the dev didn't come back to this gem and finish his work since I don't think it would take more than a few weeks to add more content for the game for it to feel like a full fledged game instead of a school project for the final grade.

I truly hope they add more to it at one point and then I will update my review to a positive one.

Besides the classical repetitiveness of their games for which there is a natural cure called "take a break" I'm only dissatisfied with the clumsy optimisation and technical issues.

My rig is AMD Ryzen 9 5950X and RTX 3090 with 64GB of RAM, with the game installed on a M.2 SSD.
I ran the game up till recent update perfectly without the need for frame generation.
Was hitting 100 to 120 FPS depending on the map or events on the map.
Besides 2 crashes I had no real technical issues.

Now I am unable to run the game above 47 FPS, even when I'm on the ship.
On missions the frames drop to the 30s or at times even 20 FPS.

I've tried verifying the game files, reinstalling the game, updating GPU drivers but nothing has worked.
Lowering the settings to low and then minimising every possible option in the settings manually does nothing.
I get like 5 extra FPS, so until they fix this and get their act together when it comes to performance I am unable to recommend this game.

Besides that, the game is basically a reskin of Vermintide in space nothing too fancy gameplay or mechanic wise.

Maybe in 3 years I will be able to recommend this game to you all and actually enjoy playing it.
Currently the game is in such a state that only those who have an AI training rig of five RTX 5090s can actually run the game without weird graphical glitches. BUT it is in pre-alpha phase (another way of saying you are playing a vertical slice of the game) so this is "forgiven".

My main issue with this game is the bloody AI, which for some reason is running the Daredevil OS in their heads, so if you make slight noise in the vegetation you will alert the 5 nearest houses of AI.
Mind you when I say nearest this is defined as 15km radius, and the AI will zero in on you to the point you CAN NOT lose them unless you run away to another village of Daredevil AIs.
The AI has serious issues in pathing, to the point where they get stuck in walls, roofs, stairs, fences etc. But no need to worry, they are still able to shoot you from those positions because their clipping allows the bullets to pass through these physical obstacles straight into your head killing you on the spot.

The AI often achieves GOD mod status during combat which allows them to ignore received headshots (no helmet on them) for at least 3 to 5 minutes. This GOD status can be achieved even when you shot them while they are unaware of you which often leads to these kinds of situations:

You manage to sneak up to the enemy NPC, you aim at his unprotected head from 2 to 4 meters away and fire 2 rounds. You hear him make the “ughh, ahh” noise, you even see blood splatters but the chap does not fall down. Instead, he turns towards you and starts shooting while his sounds of pain alert every enemy NPC in the area, all of them zero in on you, tracking you through vegetation and physical objects like walls and landmass.

This kind of AI behaviour has caused the community to develop special kiting tactics which try to cheese their behaviour through the use of grenades and other less lethal but loud explosive devices.

The AI is so bad that you will rarely see a dev play without NOCLIP and GOD MOD cheats in their streams, but this isn’t a critical issue which needs urgent addressing. No no no my dear fella, the world is missing dynamic rain system so the team will focus on adding beautiful and realistic raindrops on the glass windows before resolving the AI to be a bit less Marvel superheroes armed with guns.

If you don’t think this is an issue, well then, I invite you to check the number of active daily players which usually peak at 2500 (24h peak) during weekends, while during working weekdays they remain around 900 to 1500 players.
This is for a multiplayer game which sold 1M copies in it’s first month.

This is bad, very bad from mechanical and user experience side, not bad as a remake.
I'm not going to touch upon anything related to the game being a remake and avoid poisoning my review with emotional side.

I'm gonna approach my review as if I am playing a new game without any ties to the past.
Therefor this is my experience:
  1. The performance is severely lacking. There is much room for improvement and I do hope that it will be heavily addressed.

  2. The graphics are amazing, visuals of the world are quite stunning BUT for some reason, at least to me, it is so realistic that it creates an uncanny valley feeling with other elements of the environment and especially the characters. The individual elements by themselves are more than great, with some exception where fidelity on textures could be improved, but as a whole they just click in such an uncanny valley feeling that makes me feel uncomfortable.

  3. The characters feel amazing, they actually feel like they exist and have their own worries so you better make it worthwhile for them if you want them to worry about you. I am really looking forward to exploring their stories and motivations. Good job!

  4. The animations and movement of characters are rigid which takes you out of the immersion.

  5. Your avatar or PC needs a lot of work. The feeling of moving and traversing through the world feels as if you are on a separate flat plain which is always an obstacle before you get to interact with the environment. Movement needs to be fluid and more natural.

  6. Player animations are too long which adds additional dissociation to the feel of the player when we interact with the world. It constantly feels as if you need to take a moment to go through that invisible plane before you can do an action.

  7. I'm unsure who the culprit is, be it control input lag or animation related issue, but whenever you go interact with the world (even with jumping) it feels as if your character takes a moment as if he needs to compose himself every time before he does something.

  8. It's 2025, you have no excuse for combat to be like it is. No reason what so ever, don't even try to defend it.

  9. Lighting needs some love in corners and low light/dimmed areas, it's not bad but strange. Feels as if you started working on it and at one point said this is good enough for now let's move on and come back later.

  10. Please give menus more love ♥

  11. Love the easter eggs

  12. The atmosphere is great and creatures give it a great feeling of adventure due to the danger they pose.

To sum it up, the player experience feels very rigid, tedious and weird in a world that is so realistically beautiful it's causing you an uncanny valley feeling. The combat is using some legacy code from the late 90's early 2000., why? It remains to be seen, probably a placeholder.

Walking around can make you feel sick but it's worth it so you can hear your fav NPC tell you to "Piss off" in their own unique way ♥

A very fun incremental game which will take only one hour of your time to 100%
I hope the dev continues with the same formula but with more chapters; longer game.

Short and sweet, a very great example of incremental game to get someone into the genre.

I played this game in 2015 and 2017.
It was a fun lil game which I played like I play Vampire Survivors today.
Jump in play for half an hour, do few maps and go about my day.

Installed it again seeing that it got a 2.0 update.
My character is gone, I am unable to log in to European server (infinite loading / web works).
Almost broke my headset in order to protect my hearing because if you press Load from Steam Cloud the game suddenly becomes unbearably loud.
Hundred times louder then when it is maxed out in audio options.

When you go to options - audio it becomes normal.
But dear God please fix that issue, it only occurs with old cloud saves from (I guess) 2017 or later.
You can imagine how loud it is if your instinctive reaction is to throw your headset off your head instantly.
I tested how loud it was with a friend and it went beyond 120dB. Absolutely atrocious.

Even in 2017 the game developer had some, well let's say unwelcoming business models and practices.
Now in 2023 it went full on EA, you open your inventory and ooo look you can buy extra inventory space for almost 5€.
Really great start.

All in all can't recommend it, current online issues and predatory business model are just a no go for me.

This game is really charming.
Art style is great, the music really kicks up the atmosphere of the Slavic tradition, none the less the decision for my recommendation was hard to make.

TL;DR:
It’s a charming novel which follows a Slavic king and his family in uneasy times. As such I would recommend it, as a kingdom management RPG I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THE GAME.

It takes about 8 hours to finish the first playthrough and then hour or two to get all the achievements. So the question is it worth the full price you can answer for yourself.

I can and I am recommending the game if you desire to play a tale of a Slavic king who's campaign lasts some 7 and half hours.
It is a cute light novel with SOFT elements from other game genres like strategy, point and click adventures and RPG story mechanics.

BUT, and this is a really big BUT, if you are going for a kingdom management RPG as the game is portraying itself then I do NOT RECOMMEND the game.
For a kingdom management game it is just too small in it’s scope to fill those shoes, the decisions and resources you have to manage are trivial to say the least. Replayability is merely for achievement sake, you'll just be clicking through since all the weeks are the exact same people.

At no point did I feel pressured nor did I think that my decision would be impactful on my kingdom management. Story wise your decisions do affect specific outcomes that change the smaller character story outcomes, as for the bigger ones it is a pretty linear path to success.

I had no bugs nor technical problems during my play through, my only worry was not being able to limit FPS without V-Sync ON. Was unnecessary for the game to run at 300-400 FPS range.

The big positives of this game are it's story with it's comedy that is a parody on the DnD subculture. The game world and the characters in it are very well designed to suit the comedy as well as their interactions.

This is why I can definitely recommend watching a playthrough of the game to enjoy those elements.

As for my negative review it's because of the purely linear game that is coupled with tedious fights which will lead you to try and avoid them. Sadly this is not possible because of the linear system which governs this game. The combat actions might give RNG based results but everything else is drowned in restrictive linear game build and design.

Your in game choices don't matter, often leading towards a bit of a different reward and a definite different punchline for a joke which adapts to your chosen choice. Talent trees are small, often only difference being between higher damage or lower damage but inflicts status effect.

This is further restricted by a points system which doesn't allow you to upgrade or use skills unless you spend a certain amount of those limited points, while it might seem normal to use it due to the small size of the trees you have very limited build variation.

Often you'll find taking an ability which is useless to you or at best has very narrow utility that you will rarely use unless x conditions are met.

Build variations is further limited by linear gear drops which always happen at the same time and drop the same gear. Gear choices are often minimal mainly depending on their class, meaning Barbarian for example will have a choice to wear a damage increasing gear or defence/protection based gear. Restrictions are taken to extreme further due to a very small item pool that gets divided by class restriction and equipment slot (chest, feet, head etc.).

Everything I mentioned so far leads to a tedious combat that can last for a long period depending on your RNG rolls. For example an enemy can dodge and parry your combat rolls while your character can have a critical fail or a simple miss.

Most fights will turn into a simple crowd control through status effects on enemies while your gang manages healing and damage dealing. Position is rarely effective except for start buffs and conditional ability usage (Troll can throw Dwarf only if they are close to each other) because you will always start surrounded and zone restricted to a minimal field in which you can position your characters.

If you play blue control MTG decks you will love this playstyle because the board stays mostly the same while you incapacitate the enemy to make any kind of moves.

If the game had more impactful choices with less all covering linear logic I would definitely recommend it, but until that changes my review will stay negative.
