A compelling cyberpunk choose your own adventure with fun table-top RPG dice mechanics. Lots of things to do, plots to explore, and endings to find. Spent about 7 hours playing to reach what I think is the quickest ending. Looking forward to my next play through.

I expected the legs portion of the game to be poorly designed and buggy. I didn't expect it would ruin the rest of the game, but it did. Frame rates are terrible, menus are terrible, holo-me outfits I paid for don't exist anymore, FSD jump graphics are worse and dizzying, and I can't wing with my friends who don't have Odyssey.

A must play regardless if you've played the original or not! It's a fantastic first-person sci-fi adventure-survival game that has few peers. My favorite improvement from the original is making base building both improved and optional. The story draws you deeper, the fear is real, the gadgets are fun, and the pets are cute. Enjoy!

3rd review, 2024: Recommended
As in my first review, my community and "the incredible feel of flying and seeing realistic space sights" is the killer feature here that keeps me coming back. Until recently I didn't recommend this game, but there have been great changes lately and now I do. They've reduced grind and time wasting across the board in multiple ways! Engineering grind is lessened and now it's fun and affortable to experiment with builds. FSDv1 grind was replaced with easily purchased SCO drives that go farther and allow you to speed up in-system travel which was a huge time suck. And they've even stopped offering power-creep modules as CGs rewards. I feel like all this offsets them starting to sell new ships and some engineered modules with them for real money. Buying these ships isn't a must-have-grind-skip. It's a skip of enjoyable content and gameplay!

They've been relying on and escalating FOMO tactics ever since Fleet Carriers rolled out, such as one-off powerful module rewards in CGs.

Space sim, emphasis on the sim. There are various games layered on top of the sim. And a community around all of it. The game parts would get repetitive if it wasn't for the vibrant community and the incredible feel of flying and seeing realistic space sights.

This game is great because it's got a low barrier to fun, but also a very high skill ceiling. You can run around braining people from behind with a war axe, practice for hundreds of hours at dueling, or both! If you like stabbing things in Skyrim, nailing aerial shots in Rocket League, or PvPing in Dark Souls, then there's something you'll enjoy in Mordhau.

This has become my favorite of the Dark Souls games after playing them all in order starting in 2017. I loved them all, but I keep coming back to this one for tons of replayability, great weapon selection, and many other things that make it unique in the series.

This game is a ton of fun with our without friends who play it. The community is great, the sword and gun play feels natural, and the leveling and loot system are both enjoyable. (They're enjoyable because you reach good enough in 20-30 hours, but perfecting just one of the 5 characters could take a hundred or more hours). At the highest difficulty it's the most fun and the most demanding. Your positioning and team play are essential for success. If you liked Left 4 Dead but got bored because it felt very samey after 200+ hours, then this game is for you! The classes and level design add a lot of variety and replayability. And it's not all about the end game. There's a lot to be said about casually mowing down ratmen at any difficulty level.

This is a beautiful and engrossing underwater survival game but be advised: there are no autosaves and sometimes it still crashes. Do not play hardcore because of this even if you normally love ironman/hardcore modes and remember to save after any big wins.
