SHODDY PORT, BUY ONLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO A PS3

My spec --- OS - WIn 11, RTX 2060, 10th gen Core I7 six thread CPU with 16 gb of DDR4 RAM.

The game refused to boot and i had to jump through a bunch of hoops enable security exceptions for executable file.
After this the game would not start when set to "full screen". This means you are forced to settle for windowed mode at 720p or 1080p.

Once inside the game, changes to camera setting will not save when changed in the options menu on the title screen.

The game has partial XBOX controller support and unfortunately I am playing with a PS5 controller with steam input. The game still shows keyboard prompts and simple functions like accessing game menu and exiting the game are not mapped to the controller. In other games from this era with Xbox 360 support, steam input allows for use of ps4/ps5 controller with onscreen button prompts for the XBOX controller.

This seems to be garbage port of an already polarizing game, shame on Square Enix for not fixing some these issues that have been reported on the forums since launch!

Worth 5 dollars if your a fan of cheesy b horror movies and willing to overlook janky controls. The game has excellent world building and decent pacing (i.e short and sweet and does not over stay welcome).
The game performed poorly on my RTX 2060/Core i7 laptop running WIn 11. FPS dropped to mid 20s at medium 1080p settings (This could be related to hardware and OS issues).

Works well on Win 11 OS and modern NVIDIA GPU, make sure to disable next gen graphics in the in-game menu as this results in frequent crashes when ever you finish a level and load up the next chapter.
The xbox controller support while functional does not work well in game menus and the game throws up keyboard keys for in game actions. However all QTEs only rely on directional prompts which translates well to RS inputs on the controller. Combat and vehicle controls are janky and reminiscent of early 2000's thrid person adventure games.
Combat relies heavily on an auto-targeting reticle that constantly changes when on the move and vehicle control relies on Up and down movements of the RS for acceleration and breaking and left and right movements of the same stick to bank left and right.
If you grew up on games like PoP and Uncharted on PS2 and PS3, this game is totally worth the 1$ or so when it goes on sale!

Works on Win 11, RTX graphics card. Has native xbox one controller support contrary to what is indicated by steam. The graphics holds up on grounds of being cell shaded. Gamepaly has some flaws namely wonky camera during some segments, heavy reliance on QTE during combat, flying segments like in GOW3. However, game play is extremely smooth and forgiving.

Plays well on modern system with windows 11. Has native supports for the Xbox one Bluetooth controller. Make sure to enable controller support in the options menu to use this feature. I was surprised this reviewed poorly on GameSpot back in the day. The single player campaign is worth playing if you are a fan of either franchise! 9/10

Has held up better than Uncharted 3 .

For a PS3 era title it plays well and looks gorgeous. The platforming and gun-play are a massive step up from the final Uncharted game of this era. Great pick up for the few dollars that this retails for during major sales. The only downside is that the game performs poorly at high resolutions (20% cpu & gpu usage, low fps ) owing to it utilizing direct x 9/11. However i was able to get greater than 60 fps at ultimate settings on 1080p on a mid range setup ( ryzen 5 1600 /1070ti ).

By the Numbers Linear Shooter-Stealth Hybrid - Buy it when its on sale.

After the achieving the series high point with Blood Money, The developer clearly decided to take the game in a different direction.
The stealth in this game comes of as a splinter cell rip off minus the light and shadows or the high tech gadgetry. In its place you have tons of cover to hide behind and a half baked social stealth mechanic known as instinct to get past NPCs wearing the same clothes as 47.
The levels are linear , NPCs are numerous and the AI seems to have retained its eagle vision from prior games, making the game extremely frustrating when your trying to hide bodies or trying to sneak past a battery of guards whom always seem to remain static at key exits. To add insult to injury most levels have one or no checkpoint, making you constantly restart if you are on a stealth only play through.

Given the ridiculous number of gaurds on certain levels, a purely stealth driven approach seems almost masochistic. Perhaps given the abundance of cover and automatic weapons , these levels were probably meant to be played as third person cover shooters. The only caveat being 47 does not seem to regenerate his health (hard mode) and the enemy count doubles through various waves of reinforcement. These mechanics call for patient approach with constant repositioning. Some how it seems to have that it factor found in full on third person cover shooters such as Max payne 3 or Gears series. Unfortunatley if you do take the guns blazing, kill every thing on sight approach you are heavily punished with deductions to your end of level rating, which ties to the games upgrade system that ironically awards skills that favour the vary play style that might prevent you from acquiring them in the first place!

The biggest let down are sand box assaniantion missions. These maps are smaller and seem to lack the complexity of the maps found in their PS2 era predecessors. The focus seemed to on shiny graphics and generating large crowds of NPCs for 47 to blend in. Some of these missions also had no checkpoints making runs were you only kill the target almost impossible without constant restarting.

The story in this game is surprisingly cohesive for a Hitman game. It has cutsences comparable to AAA titles of its era. The only misstep was the art direction. Game plays out in suburban and rural america that is mostly dreary, run down and full of the most over the top stereotypical trailer trash characters imaginable. This strays from the sophisticated contract killer that does business in vibrant exotic locales vibe of virtually every other game in the franchise.

Its pretty obvious the devs were trying to make a mainstream product that would ride on the coat tails Gears of War 3 and Max Payne 3. By doing so it lost its identity and has ended up get more flak from the fans than it really should. The game plays well at 2k resolution on modern systems and is worth your considerations if you have beaten all the classics from this genre and are in the market for a polished third person shooter.
