The Game is very reminiscent of old school JRPG. However, I believe the story is more mature than your typical JRPG.

The reward board system is a good incentive for players to explore the world. Having rewards capped at certain milestones also help for more casual player to not gated for upgrades.

The pixel art is not bad. Personally I prefer HD-2D sprites like the OT series, but Chained Echoes pixel art is not a deal breaker for me.

It's not a triple A game, but it has a certain charm to it. Chained Echoes scratch the itch I get for old JRPG that I can't get for a long time (aside of the OT series). All in all, I can recommend to buy the game wholeheartedly, even when it's not on Sale.
