My friend randomly found this game on instagram. DM'd me two days ago asking me if I'd be down to try it. I do not at all regret saying yes. And would recommend to any duo willing to put in a few hours into such an engaging experience.

Positives
These puzzles so far are so interesting and decently challenging. The world, both explicitly and implicitly shown, is phenomenal. Combat is fine, nothing too crazy, but the way the two classes mesh is near perfect. Graphics, while looking a bit odd at times, are overall pretty great.

Issues/Gripes/Negatives
More control over the look of my character would be nice. Animations of the player character is a bit stiff, but you will never see that unless looking at your friend. Localization to English isn't perfect but is still perfectly passable. Base control scheme is a bit weird but isn't too bad since they let you re-bind. Also, still haven't seen the purpose of trample(stomping).

Random thoughts
The voice modulation for the AI is the same as Bad Cop from Entropy: Zero 2 so that threw me off a lil haha.
Also, no clue how to disable a mine on the roof of a hallway, I thought I had it but could never hit it.

Gave it a chance, will still probably play more. Loved a lot of it, but have issues with a lot. People are too forgiving of it for me to recommend.
Here's a bunch of my negatives, since I'm sure you've heard/seen the positives a hundred times
First:
You don't get a "return to safety" ability till Act 3.
Now, yes. You can quit out to teleport back to the last bench used. :/ That's dumb and not at all the same. It should've been something you acquire much earlier.

Second:
A lot of the tools were very underwhelming. I never once felt like I'd use them over just using a skill. Plasmium vial was awesome! And overshadowed everything else... till I ran out. Going to wormways to refill it? Nah. I'm good. Not even a difficult or particulary long. Just tedious. And boring. Then when I could, swapped to the cogfly.

Third:
Beast shards.... god they're awful. The quality of someone's experience with beast shards is directly correlated with their skill. Exactly the thing that gets people ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about Sekiro or Bloodborne. Why show up to a boss fight unprepared without your preferred tools.

Fourth:
Runbacks vary between fine and awful. The worst of them? Not hard but BORING.

Fifth:

The story, characters, and world they've built is fantastic. Truly by a narrative standpoint, this is their strongest showing and at some points better than TFS and Witchqueen.

Everything else? Meh. It's failing to keep me playing post-campaign and especially post-raid. I'm going to update this again sometime after the raid drops, but I don't expect my opinion to change drastically sadly. I just wish Bungie had a balance team that well... communicated everything rather than just fail to do a core part of their job. I expect within the next week, we're gonna be getting another tweet saying "We're listening" for the nth time.

Destination abilities are cool gimmicks, but I feel like 1 of em is more like "destination equipment." And it feels to me slightly disingenuous to say otherwise. I sadly think these abilities are also going to be effectively pointless in 6 months to a year if they don't 1. use them again or 2. keep players coming back to Kepler. Both of those have issues. If we go with route 1, the abilities will get overly stale. If we go route 2, both the abilities and Kepler will get very stale. Idk, I don't really have much of a point other than I don't want deepsight 2.0 though I do believe there is a lot more potential with these abilities than deepsight. I also don't know why some people are getting so pissy about matterspark. It's fun and allows for fairly novel level design (for destiny, not gaming as a whole lmao). Main issues were its integration with combat and its glitches. The spinning camera glitch is genuinely nauseating and overly common. The issues with combat is that I feel like it could've included a tiny passive AOE effect? or slightly higher damage. (I did campaign on legendary, have no clue what it feels on normal)

Mattermorph however sucks. The ability to spam infinite suspension is great. But god, do I hate the rest of it. Timer in some puzzles shows it's slightly too short and therefore too limiting. Tracking should focus on morphable targets, not a random enemy 10 feet to the left which then pulls it off its mark. The glowing green items indicating what's morphable just looks kind of bad to me, fully just a preference thing and I have no true constructive criticism there. Also, some sort of preview of how the objects are going to move would be great. Last point, being unable to see the morphable objects when nowhere near unlocking the ability in the campaign would be great. I thought the random glowing rocks and sheets of metal were very annoying. I do, somewhat, enjoy the mission where you unlock the ability. I should've just not played it with 3 people cause multiplicity. *

Relocator? Eh not much to say, is cool. Hope to see it used in some more novel and cool puzzles in the future.

* That complaint on multiplicity actually leads into another point. Still, I feel like its overly punishing in the worst possible way on 3 people. Certain mini-bosses and bosses are just way too tanky. Really felt like I was forced to use certain builds, and prioritize especially certain weapons. if you ran out of ammo on your heavy and special on one of these massive sponges, then it felt utterly pointless using my primary. It unironically feels like they somehow made the issue of ability spam worse in that way. For example, why would I use my new auto rifle, or scout rifle, or pulse rifle, or etc when I can just use a pretty basic solarlock build to spam fusion nades that delete everything. Well, idk.

Anyways... (9/10) story, (10/10) lore, (?/10) raid, (?/10) endgame, mattermorph (-1000/10), matterspark (7.6/10), relocator (Morrowind/Fallout New Vegas)

Truly phenomenal game. Fastest and cleanest gameplay of any shooter I've ever had the privilege of enjoying. Community is fantastic. Graphics are intentionally "dated" but hold up very well. Every boss is memorable, with some being incredibly iconic. Even the worst boss has amazing spectacle and buildup in its layer, even if that is countered by its jank.

I would heavily recommend playing the demo first as a way to get a feel for the combat and seeing if you'd like it. if you do, I more than heavily recommend it. I just started and I feel like this is one of my favorite games of all time.

Finally put my thoughts together. It's intense. I've never cried nor cared about a cast of characters as much as this. My heart was torn from my chest and trampled. Bravo.

♥♥♥♥ the bus mini-game though. That was so ass. Rest of the mini-games were so much better.
