Early Access Review
I will admit, I wasn't a huge fan of My Time in Portia. I found the art to be a pretty off-putting and hard to get into.

But, I absolutely love what has been released so far for My Time in Sandrock, and I am excited to see the progress from here on out. Basically, all of the problems I had with Portia have been fixed in Sandrock.

I enjoyed this game, but the story is one of the weakest i've seen. you see the little girl at the start for a little, then don't see her again til the very end. It also felt pretty short.

I liked most of the mini-games, and it was nice to explore one of these games where most of the atmosphere stays the same throughout.

This is probably one of the few games from this company that I just did not enjoy. My biggest complaint is that the map doesn't work in the dream sections. those sections can be 2+ areas long so it's nice to know if you're missing something instead of just having to randomly check every single item. Honestly, some of the item uses are just not intuitive, and even after I found the right item a couple times I was confused as to how it worked. the story itself was pretty boring, and a little confusing especially near the end. I really can't even think of anything I liked about this one.

I enjoyed it, but it was a pretty fast play- quicker than most games from this company. The father looked eternally angry every time he came on the screen, not just when he was upset. I liked most of the mini-games. It was pretty easy.

Looks and runs much better than I expected it too. I wish there was more deducing and/or clue-finding and less repetitive mini-games. The game gave you enough guidance so you weren't completely lost, but not so much as to tell you how to do the puzzles. I loved the last section of the game. One thing I wish had been done differently is the cases. I wish there had been 1-2 larger cases than multiple smaller ones.

While I enjoyed the subject matter, and the plot- the hidden object aspect just wasn't fun.

The biggest problem I had with this game was the hint system. Instead of giving your guidelines on where to go, which can be pretty helpful if you get stuck, they use the hint system to show you the area where an item in your inventory can be used. This is great and all if: half the items you get early on weren't used till the end of the game, weren't "Easter egg" items that took up space but weren't for the actual plot, or the part you're stuck at doesn't require an item.

There weren't a ton of hidden object sections, and the few there were had made a lot of items look to similar to the background. Items merging into the background was also an issue with regular items in the world, you could easily walk past an item and not realize it.

One of the worst point and click games I've ever played. I'm not sure if it is because I wsa using the mac version, or if the game does this naturaly, but the game would start to run so slowly that it would take forever to get and use items, and the only way to "fix" it was to open the menu and click fullscreen mutliple times, and I had to do this almost every time I would enter a room, even if I had been there before. I couldn't even get into the story all that much because of this problem. Though even if the problem was fixed, the game would still not be very good. They only inlcuded certain aspects from the original story, and they did it so poorly. If you have never read the stories that this game is based on and still want to play it, or even if you don't, you should definitly check it out.
