Writing out everything I think about DD2 because I think it requires some being said, especially given all the negative reviews.

Positives

Massive improvement to DD1
Skills and abilities all have an extreme weight and heft to them, and as a result combat is incredibly satisfying.
Visuals are good and there's always something around every corner and treeline so you're never bored.
Music is on point too, sound design spectacular.
Enemies are bigger and badder, and even more fun to take down.
Character customization is very thorough which is always great.

Negatives
Denuvo and general performance chunks when you enter large towns - people have noted setting game as high priority to help. Hopefully future patches address that as well.
Yes, you have to run everywhere, yes, it's annoying, but it does force you to do a bit of planning before you head out - as if the whole map were a dungeon filled with smaller dungeons. You don't need to buy no stinking DLC - you can gather those materials and items as you play, and that builds into the planning stages as well. Teleportation and fast-travel is something you earn as you progress. - updated: performance is better now

Other thoughts
I went 10 hours straight without stop just running around and RPing as pro-wrestler gone feral Perc Angle . Can a game be fun as all hell while having some aggravating stuff slapped atop of it from people trying to make a buck? Yeah, probably. Is it absolutely stupid that all the DLC exists? Yeah, definitely. Do you need any of it? Nope. It's not like a sim game, where the 200 dollars of DLC stares at you in the face while you play with a stripped down version hoping the dlc comes on sale. I don't mind people flipping Capc*m the bird, cause I'm right there with you, but DD2 is a great game despite that, and it's a shame seeing everyone dog-pile it for things generally out of the developers control.

A surprisingly fun game, with an interesting set of mechanics and quirks that make it enjoyable to sit down and play (with friends, mostly) for a good time. Only gripes are some issues with matchmaking and joining games, whether that's the occasional inability to create or join lobbies or simply the low player count. There's reward to being good at the game and learning its ins and outs, but it is also absolutely fun to just screw around in.

If you've ever played a game like Raze or Strike Force, this is the game. Less explosions, but solid game design and concept. Only a couple minutes in and I'm hooked, The progression system is balanced and isn't p2w, weapons and upgrades make it so you play to your own style instead of just being straight stronger.

Interface is cool, still queuing for a MM server though.
