Early Access Review
I picked up this game on a whim while looking for something new and free, and I cannot believe how much I'm enjoying it and have played it. My play time includes leaving the game open continually to always have a character "active".

It's an "idle" game but it also is not an idle game. You can really pick how you want to play - let characters sit AFK for hours or days in various places for various things to level or grind, play them actively, or mix things up. With 10 characters to unlock, there is *always* something to do if you want there to be. I can play for a couple hours a day, or I can sit here with my ADHD focus like it's my full-time job.

I am currently in the most-recent world (world 6), and don't min/max or turbonerd out. So I'm "slow" compared to a lot of people I see online, but I also don't care - go at your own pace and do what you want. Just because you might not be doing something in the ideal or "best" way doesn't necessarily mean you're doing it wrong! The in-game events are really generous with drops; I've been playing for two now, the 4th anniversary event and the summer event. The graphics and music are cute and it's super impressive that it's the work of just one dev! There's a lot of really nice personal touches and humor.

One frustration point is that the game doesn't explain a lot for you - I've found over time and from learning from others that the wiki, reddit, Idleon Toolbox, Idleon Efficiency, and Pinchy AutoReview are all necessary for me in their various ways. I have a whole spreadsheet/notes system for myself.😂 There is also the RNG and grind factor, which may not appeal to folks. There is a cash shop and I have spent about $15 total on the auto-looter and the storage ram pack, but you don't need to spend money for a lot of the shop items because you get the currency (gems) quite often in-game.

It's not a game for everyone but if this all sounds like it might tickle your dopamine centers in your brain, I say definitely check it out!

The Mass Effect universe is my absolute favorite game series of all time, and I so, so love the attention and love that it's received with the Legendary Edition release. I'm a huge sucker for graphics and making games look pretty, and so my review is going to reflect that. So far I am only on ME1, but gosh it's just so great.

I have played and replayed the original games many times over the last decade plus, usually with many mods to alter and update the textures or to add QOL features, and while playing through ME1 Legendary Edition, I'm just continually astonished at how good things look. Turians (<3) are no longer stuck with low resolution face textures and just look amazing. The Hanar, Elcor, and Volus have also been given a fresh coat of paint. I sat in the Citadel tower and just watched the light rays play out over the gardens and it was just beautiful. I catch myself looking at actual reflections in windows or on water.

If you're a returning player, I don't think I've noticed any jarring differences between the original and the legendary edition in terms of gameplay. I did grab a FOV mod from the ME:L Nexus, since that is probably my only complaint - the lack of a FOV slider. I find that I prefer a FOV of 90.

If you're a new player, I'm so excited for you to experience a Mass Effect that is updated for 2021 standards and where you won't have to go and download huge mod packages to make it look nicer. There is so much universe-building and lore to explore, and I hope you get lost in awe with it like I did so many years ago. Make your Shepard your own, feel your choices and how you'd respond in the situation, and see what unfolds. And when you're done, go back for a second (third, fourth..) play through and see how changes you make in your choices affect the universe and the story.

Good hunting, Commander Shepard.
