i liked the first "level" of the game (the caves), because it's kept relatively simple but you can see some depth to it. then i got to the second area and it did not feel as fun - enemies started feeling frustrating to fight, traps felt annoying, and the progression (and necessity to switch family members) got a bit too much for me.

i did not have the opportunity to play with a friend, maybe that would alleviate some of the issues i have, but i was just not too enthralled by my time with the game past a certain point. i'll still leave it as a recommend because i don't think it's bad, it's just extremely not for me.

gorgeous game that only serves to validate my visceral hatred of birds

a very fun game. it's less derivative than you might think - the focus is much more on exploring and collecting than managing troops adequately, so it's closer to a collectathon in that regard.

it's got a killer soundtrack and more importantly is insanely fun to control. it also looks very good visually. it's a strong recommendation from me!

i don't think it's very fun.

combat isn't particularly fun as it lacks some sort of oomph to it - everything is weightless, feels like nothing really matters.

another point is the UI - i just think it's not very good. kind of hard to tell what you're selecting or what you're doing with a controller. strong lack of contrasts or visual clarity on that front.

i think your money is better spent on other games.

off the bat, the game is insanely derivative. with that said, i think it pulls ahead from its inspiration with the battle mechanics - the SP system and being able to switch moves on the fly makes for a much better experience. music is also pretty groovy, and i did like the creature designs overall.

i had a lot of fun! i think it's worth playing.

i picked this game up on a whim, partly because of the price tag, partly because i like their previous game (utopia must fall).

i don't think it's bad, but i do think it is a bit unremarkable. it doesn't really do anything to stand out other than go for a retro aesthetic - by that i mean, no particular interesting mechanic other than trying to score. the simplicity is both good (expectations are set, and it lets you grind it) and bad (no particular display of skill require other than the will to play it)

i do think it's at least worth considering to play, especially since as of the time of writing it is still in early access, so things could change greatly.

a pretty fun platformer, that overall doesn't stay its welcome too much (well except one part in the 4th level that I had to cheese...). the gimmick is clear from the beginning, they play a bit with it here and there, and no permutation of it overstays its welcome.

if i want to be a bit critical, i can imagine this game to be harder to play for people with disabilities (color blindness comes to mind) and some flashing effects. nothing too huge, but still something i feel mentioning. with that said, i'd like to add that you need to either play with mouse + keyboard or use a controller with a right stick, as the game requires it. a bit weird for a 2d platformer, but it works!

overall, had a decent time with it, not too fussed at the length, and glad i picked it up.

fantastic spirit and aesthetics, the game looks and sounds fantastic. on top of that, it handles insanely well. it's just very fun to move about and get a combo going.

i didn't play JSRF (unfortunately) but it basically fixes every janky thing that annoys me with JSR and god this game feels good.

just buy and play the game. it's really good. i won't waste time belittling the story or gameplay, it's just a good game that you should experience.

if you're really hesitant at 7 dollars (lol) then you can wait for the game to go on sale for like a dollar. it's genuinely worth it.

it's an endearing game!

for a creature collecting game, i wasn't super fond of the actual *collecting*. i don't think the running around and recording aspect is pretty fun. the party BUILDING though is massive fun, because of how you can manage your troops. and that can land you some sick move combinations. huge fan of that aspect.

the story is pretty decent and the worldbuilding is also interesting, but the other star of the show is obviously the soundtrack, which i think they nailed.

the start of the game is decent, the middle part of the game kind of beat me down (too much to do felt overwhelming) but once i got the ball rolling, the game played itself.

overall, a pretty enjoyable experience, and i think it's worth playing
