amazing tech that showcases every shortcoming of the open world genre. sometimes tech drives games, sometimes it holds a game back. not that there's much potential in most open world games, in my opinion.

ultimately i guess it's fine. relatively bland. insane tech for a pre 2010 game. i try to be more deliberate with my reviews but honestly there just isn't much to talk about here! do you like blowing up buildings and shooting army men? then this is the game for you i guess

do not play this if you are photosensitive, but other than that a solid puzzle game all around

all criticism towards the lack of involvement of the creator aside, gimmick 2 is a pretty alright physics/puzzle platformer. a handful of worlds, accompanied by a pretty fun soundtrack makes for a decent time all around. good amount of collectibles to gun for in decent platforming sequences.

not a lot in the demo (just the start of journey mode) but it's pretty solid. did face heavy slowdown on my machine in the 3rd level, but it is lumines with the tetris connected flair!

i can't speak for the emulation or whatever, but i did like the options (rewind, menu for save slots, etc) for what it's worth. i didn't really notice any particular issue that detracted from my experience.

however. with that said. what a devilishly hard game. i got fooled by the aesthetics and did not expect gimmick to be what it is. it's a little tech marvel being an end of life NES game, but i did not expect the level of difficulty on display here. straight up devil's work. go in with the proper expectations.

for most people this is a "on sale" game.

insanely ahead of its time in so many regards. one of the few instances of a "game simulation" understanding the culture that surrounds it and representing it well. it even has a card auto battler starting from volume 2. solid cast of characters all around. a lot of people will get filtered by the combat and miss out on a genuinely fantastic experience.

downside is that this version seems to cut down on the grind so if you just do a slight amount of side content you will over-level the pace of the story, which can be a bummer to some but i love being strong as hell in a RPG so whatever

Unremarkable even at its price tag. Online is dead so you're left with only bot matches, which are not fantastic.

this game is an excellent point to showcase how good we had it with pre rendered graphics and how good they were to make video games. we have lost the plot and it sucks.

anyway fallout 2 is pretty good

works great on steam deck, tight repackage of thps 1+2. the downside here is that if you buy this you are giving your money to activision, so that sucks. pretty decent time and it's very easy to pick up and play even for newcomers, even 25 years on!!!

I get a little sad when i realize fighting games have moved from sprites because this game still looks gorgeous. Plays great too on a steamdeck.
