In all honesty, I am a ♥♥♥♥♥ when it comes to scary games. I want to leave the room, cover my eyes and quit the came when I hear even one sqeak of a chucrchmouse. However, I felt oddly calm when I played Outlast.

Maybe it is because the horror is more human than other games. Most of the fear comes from the inmates of Mount Massive Instituion, wandering down dark corridors, mumbling in a incoherent tounge. Not a lot of ghosts or monsters. (Well , except for Wallrider but he only shows up after 3 hours or so of playtime.) But even with that said, it is still bloody scary.

Let me talk gameplay. I won't try to ramble off on some unusual topic, but let me say this; this came is more tense than scary. Hide or run. I usually pick the latter, sprinting down corridors, making burbling noises while Gumball or Dr House follow not far behind. It kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.

The story is intriguing as well. the kind of story you could talk about to your non-gamer friends at a party or in a car, without seeming too annoying. Basically, as I am not doing spoilers, unethical ♥♥♥♥ went down here, if you couldn't already tell from the corpses or mad patients.

Graphics are nice. And the music is standard. The darkness and camera mechanic is a nice touch. I feel as if a flashlight may have been more useful, but, it would remove the objective of recording these horrific events.

So overall, I would give this game a 8/10. Could be longer and it would be nice in a sequel to use the movement and adapt it to new situations and allow me to get past a pursuer easier than jumping . many a time did i get stuck in a hallway because a enemy was blocking me. I think I am nitpicking now. I will stop.
