So far it's really great. New furniture, better graphics and sounds, runs better, etc.

What I want to see next:
> Character customizing. I know you don't see yourself in game but it'd still be nice to have different skin tones, hair, etc. for fun stuff.

> Let us change the FOV, *please*. It's extremely zoomed in and super hard to play for more than an hour without a headache or motion sickness.

> Add a checklist for the entire property as a whole, or something that tells you what you're missing

> Flipper Vision can be VERY vague at times. It's helpful for larger issues, but if I didn't vacuum a single coffee bean and only have 2.9 stars and am looking around for it, desperately pressing Q, Flipper Vision isn't helpful. Needs to be some sort of pointer or other indicator to show where tiny bits of stuff is, especially in well-furnished jobs.

Update:

Why would the devs remove the installation process for things like showers, baths, etc?! Now you just place down an object from the store! So much of the original HF fun was installing appliances and other items, now it's so bland! Please bring back the installations!!!

it's just not fun anymore, which sucks because I used to love it. At the least, I just want matchmaking to be fixed. Why is someone with a low skill set being fed to Pred-ranks?

A wonderful little story game. I love the music and adore the art style. Tells a great story and the game play is calming and relaxing. Would recommend to anyone who loves short stories and cooking.

Full review of the game so far. I'll talk about the story last because it may have spoilers.

Gameplay:
Some of the most fun combat I have experienced in a long time. It was extremely refreshing and fun. Fighting tough enemies was difficult, but at the end when you finally beat them, was very rewarding. Also, for bosses with multiple stages, if you die during one stage, you DON'T start at the beginning. (For example, if a boss has 3 stages, and you die in stage 2, you start again on stage 2 with full health). Since it's rhythm-based combat, they offer many ways for you to stay on-beat; the environment around you moves with the beat, the UI elements move with it, and they offer an optional extra UI that you can look at to find it if you still have trouble. Also, certain enemies have different mechanics that you need to adjust your play style to in order to beat it, which keeps combat fresh. You can learn combos, but it's mainly optional if you just want to beat the main story in normal or easy mode (I haven't played hard or super hard, so I can't say anything about that). Combat is fast-paced and fun, and I enjoyed all of it, even when it was frustrating.

There's also a large part of the game put into platforming, and it was fine; a lot of the game's designs and ideas were actually really cool, and they had a lot of ways to make the same mechanics and ideas new and fun again for later levels.

Characters (SMALL spoilers ahead):
The characters are a bit cliche but all around they're still likeable. The main character Chai is a generic, overly-confident white boy twink, but he's goofy and fun-loving. Then there's Peppermint, whose the semi-edgy, sarcastic dyed-hair smart girl of the group. Overdone troupe, but I like her. Her backstory is cliche as well but I won't say that until I review the story. Then there's Macaron, whose the "gentle giant" character, and Korsica, whose the villain-turned-team mate of the story. Also very useful as she has multiple uses both in and out of combat, whereas Peppermint and Macaron only have one or two uses.

Story (MAJOR SPOILER ALERT):

The story is very generic. I do like it, and it was very fun, but it was still something I've seen before. It's a story about a large corporation, which starts out seeming cool, but then later you find out "actually, Corporation Bad". It has many sub-plots or little pieces of dialogue about how Corporation Bad, however these are done in funny and humorous ways, so it gets a pass. There's also different "department heads", which are all insane and full of themselves (except Korsica, whose semi-normal"). The main story of the game is about how Kale, the CEO of the corporation, is Very Bad and is making an AI to Control People And Make Them Give Him Money. Then there's a whole thing where we find out that Peppermint is actually Kale's sister and then we also find out that the founder of the company, Roxanne, is Kale and Peppermint's mom, and Kale forced her out. My final critique of the story and its cliches is how there's a whole "Friendship is Magic" thing going on at the end and "We can do anything if we have TEAMWORK!".

However, just because the story is cliche doesn't mean its bad. It has a lot of funny parts in it, little tidbits of other story, Jojo references (iykyk), and more. Although I've seen it all before, and I rolled my eyes at some of it, none of the story is actually BAD, it's just predictable. There were no points where jokes were unfunny or cringe (in fact most of them actually made me laugh, or at least blow air out my nose). The ending has a nice resolution and you feel like you actually did something.

THERE'S ALSO A CUTE CAT!!! AND YOU CAN PET IT. YOU CAN PET THE CAT.
Soundtrack/music
Seeing as this is a rhythm game, it's obligatory that this game has a great soundtrack. A lot of the music is original, but there's also some music from other bands such as the Nine Inch Nails (given you aren't playing on Streamer Mode).

[h5] Overall [/h5]
I would reccomend this game to anyone who wants a game with excellent, fun, fast-paced, rewarding combat with an element of music and rhythm put into it, with likeable characters. The soundtrack is great, the dialogue is funny and witty, and overall this is one of the most fun I've had playing a game in a good time. Also, in case anyone is wondering, there is, in fact, a new game plus, so you'll be able to replay this game once you're done with it one time and really get your money's worth.

This game is stressful ASF and often times impossible to make people happy in your city. Constantly having to Google solutions to problems, only to find out that said solution isn't working because the game is honestly buggy as hell. Problems show up out of nowhere even if you are maintaining everything, and 1 power outage or sewer problem can literally destroy EVERYTHING you have worked on.

Early Access Review
My honest review

PROS:

New slimes and slime foods, obviously

A whole new map with 3 new regions to explore, as well as a bigger "ranch" (now called a conservatory) with 4 expansions available to use and purchase

Smoother movement

They gave Beatrix idle animations where she stretches her wrists or wiggles her fingers due to being strained from holding the vac, which is a nice touch.

CONS:

I have a 4070 and even with my graphics on all the highest settings the game's graphics are...lackluster, to be honest.

So far your vac pack slots can hold at most I think 40 items at once. Unless I'm missing an upgrade, this is a VERY low amount and makes port collection extremely annoying.

They removed the 7Zee club rewards, which makes sense because apparently this island has never been set foot upon before, but the crates/"pods" you open to get upgrades still say 7Zee on them. Does 7Zee exist on the island or not??? Also, this makes it so your money is almost worthless when you get a lot of it.

They made slimes that were semi-rare before (primarily Hunter slimes) much more common

NPC characters are hardly interacted with anymore. They might video call you and give you an item, but I really miss them. I especially loved the mini games.

Tarr spawns SO much due to the extreme diversity of each island. I have it on the regular default setting but they spawn very often, where in Slime Rancher 1 they were much less common.

It's extremely tedious to get a jet pack, I had to spend 4 in-game hours to get it

If you disliked the science in the previous game and moreso enjoyed gameplay based around exploration, you may not like this version because you need to use science to get any basic upgrades. You can't just fork money over for them like in SR1.

THINGS THAT WERE IN THE PREV. GAME THAT I HOPE THEY ADD:

The minigames that allowed you to get money or upgrades were awesome, I especially loved the Slimeulation. I hope they either re-vamp the old ones or make new ones.

Club rewards of some kind, or some sort of rewarding level system. Especially if they allow us to change the color of our house and equipment.

Other old slimes, especially Mosiac slimes. I'm honestly surprised that Mosiacs aren't in this game considering that they're rainbow and the map is legit called Rainbow Island.

WTF happened to Bea's old island and ranch? In the beginning it's explained that she just gets on a boat and leaves to this new island. What about her slimes on the ranch? Did she just abandon them on a whim?

NEW THINGS THAT WOULD BE AWESOME:

If mini games are added again, it'd be cool to see models of the characters who run the ranch/place you go to. For example, if Thora has a minigame, maybe have a 3D model of her that talks to you? They already made an amazing model for Beatrix, so I'm sure they can do more. Instead of talking to them through a screen or something, you could actually see them.

Better habitats for puddle and fire slimes, as of now (and in the old game) it's hard to keep them all in their incinerator/pond if you have a lot of them or accidentally end up throwing them in there too hard. Also, puddle slimes generally feel neglected because they don't get any cool upgrades like the rest of the slimes- even just a music box for the pond/incinerator would make them feel more loved.

This game has great potential but right now is extremely lackluster. I'll keep my hopes high since it's still early access, but I think I'll be waiting to continue playing until more major updates come out. I really do hope this game will be good. (If the game improves later, I will update this review.)
