But one thing is for sure - for something so simple to give me mere moments of pure joy and happiness in what I can only describe as a constant weight on my chest, I'm grateful.

Honestly one of my favorite games. I have had so many good times with this game, I highly suggest it rather than buying anyrhing procuring you "good times"
This is essentially a cheap mans' dayz, but it differentiaites itself in so many ways, such as the really easy to use crafting system, how you manage things, etc...
Actually, you know what...
Stop reading this and just go download the game, and get the gold membership, it helps the devs and gives a bunch of cool stuff to mess around with.
