Early Access Review
I'm writing this a few days after launch. This was the smoothest launch I've ever seen from an MMO and I've been around for dozens of MMO launches. There are crashes for some people, but they are fixed by checking the known-issues section on their Discord. There are some bugs, but so far I haven't seen anything that can't be worked around and they are fixing things daily.

As for the game itself, it is an open sandbox PVP game. If you are looking for something with a story line or a series of quests, this isn't it. There are no specific goals, you just jump in and play.

As for content, it is mostly go looking for resources, and build your ship. There is a large safe zone, then outside of that it is open PVP, you can attack people or avoid people or work with people. You can salvage from abandoned ships outside the safe zone or mine ore inside or outside the safe zone. You can go into a great amount of detail in designing your own ship and there is even custom programming for ship systems. But in the end, you make your own fun, your own experiences, just like a sandbox. So if you want a sandbox and you enjoy space games, this is a fun game.

Ship building and designing is extremely complex and detailed. Some people won't like that while others will love that. Even if you aren't into ship building, you can still crew a friend's ships, if you enjoy that.

Of course, realize this is currently an early access game that is essentially an alpha, if you aren't okay with lots of bugs as they add new systems and such, then maybe wait for official release.

Deep Rock Galactic is a fantastic little coop game. It's a fun game to jump into with friends and just play a few rounds.
-fun and interesting enemy types
-diverse character classes
-procedurally generated maps
-wide range of difficulty options, plus difficulty scales with number of players in a match

It's a simple game, but it is a lot of fun completing objectives while fending off waves of enemies.

Crawl is a fantastic game to play with friends. It has that competetive feel but in a fun couch coop way. Even if one person is clearly winning, the other players don't feel like there is no point in continuing because there is still a task to do even for the player in last place. Beyond that though, things can change quickly, the player in last could rise up to first place in one quick move. Also, ghost players are always cooperating with eachother against the "living" player, but it constantly changes who is fighting alone and who is fighting together. One moment you're fighting against everyone and then the next you're fighting along side the same people, leading to so some fun and funny transitions.

All of this lends itself well to fun competition among friends without being focused on the competitive aspects, instead focusing on the pure fun. I can't recommend this game enough if you are looking for a good multiplayer game for when you have friends over.

Recommended for 2-4 players.
