this game feels off for some reason, i don't enjoy it, it has a mix of easy to learn stuff and retarded ♥♥♥♥ that don't make sense like the wallbreaking system damage values. the gattling system feels like complete ass on some character and on others it feel amazing, sol being one of them sol has amazing use out of his lights because of his command normals, while others like zato have command normals with insane startup and summoning eddie is punishable, the only thing that i find myself using them for is to sometimes abare, but even that doesn't help as much just because it does so little to actually condition your opponent,

YRC'S in this game are kind of a joke i find myself getting back into pressure after i YRC instead of going back to neutral like dead angel in XRD, it feels like i spend 50 meter to get back into pressure

this game feels bad compared to xrd, it feels like the game puts shackles on you because of the gattling system. the fact that may lost her setplay dolphins, ram her unique swords, and chipp his teleport, just feels like they took away a big chunk of their charm that made them fun to watch and play.

movement feels sluggish with the long startup to airdashes, and sometimes the landing lag is really noticeable when trying to execute a combo/setup.

the wallbreaking system is just confusing and unfun for the most part, the wallbreaking system doesn't feel interesting, there's no decision making when it comes to it, it just gives you more meter, and extra oki frames if broken by a super, it feels like i get punished for opening my opponents up by going to to neutral after i combo them in the corner.

the game feel artificially faster because of the higher damage instead of being an actual fast game.

wakeup timings on supers and dp's feel weird as well, sometimes it comes out, and other times it doesn't even if i spam the input.

the UI looks bad, i loved how xrd and +r looked in terms of style in the UI it has a lot of "flavor" and "spice" to it, strive just has some generic looking UI that sometimes confuse me for example the round system and Risk

i really like the idea of Risk in the previous titles. but because the dmg is so high in strive it's barely noticeable and feels insignificant, what's 14 more dmg to a 280 dmg combo, you only get a counter hit out of risk if you max it out but that's nearly impossible without spending meter, making players okay with playing a lot more defensive and passive, even on more offensive characters, there's no risk for getting Risk

and lastly i really don't like the combo system if feels like you have to spend meter to do basically anything that's not a 3hit combo, the only time you can actually combo from stuff without RC are really specific combo starters (usually a counter hit), making the combo system feel a lot less flexible like in previous titles, which makes me feel that there is less room for creativity.

my perspective on this game might change as more characters get introduced and arcsys starts pumping out more content/patches but for now, it just doesn't feel good or interesting to watch and or play.

EDIT: also the lobby system is the most broken ♥♥♥♥ i have ever seen.

My first fighting game, overall the animations are good the gattlin/combo system feels good, and every character feel unique.

i would recommend this game for new and old players alike, the only "problem" is that there is delay based netcode and the playerbase is not all that big even small.

overall the game is fun would recommend.

Edit: at the time of this review i had 50 hours on the game now almost 2 years later i have 900 this game has sucked the soul out of me and playing against top tiers made me reconsider my life choices

9/10 the soundtrack slaps
