Closer to Once Human than Conan Exiles, Awakening is a surprisingly entertaining take on the genre, even if it could have done with another year in the oven. A disappointingly underdeveloped melee system and no shortage of Funcom jank but it's still one of the more entertaining survival crafting games I've played lately. Movement is fluid, and vehicles are fun to use, but combat in general is underwhelming.

If you're a fan of Dune or of the genre, then you're likely to have a good time. If not, or if this is your first time delving into survival crafters as a genre, then I recommend looking elsewhere.

Honestly I've been really loving it for the most part, if you have already played world and are looking for more then it's the best option you have. If you haven't then I recommend starting there. But it feels like a step back in a lot of places compared to world (yes even at release). For this reason I can't recommend it at the current price. (Review will be updated when I feel it's in a better position). Far less hunt variety (I personally enjoyed the siege missions in world / using the weapon emplacements, but that's completely gone). There's also no gathering hub (though they are adding one soon), no player room - so gathering rare endemic life is pretty pointless (fewer related achievements too), no particularly challenging monsters save for maybe 3, I ran low rank leather / mail until I got to rank 7 quests (I think this is mostly down to the improvements to combat, which are genuinely really fun to use and I have enjoyed them immensely but the monsters just can't keep up half the time), sometimes I feel like the zone design is a bit lacklustre in terms of navigability, and I don't understand why they did environment linking the way they did.

I genuinely love it but oh my god it gives Skyrim a run for its money with the level of jank - Maybe wait for a patch or two.

It's pretty great. Currently getting DDOS'd so maybe wait a week or two to see if things get resolved.

Exceptionally Mediocre. Clearly unfinished yet lacking an early access tag. Don't worry though, they made sure not to sleep on overpriced MTX so you can spend till your heart's content. ♥

It crashed about 10 times in the main menu but since then it's been smooth sailing. I recommend shopping for a better price.

The recent removal of the rotating store front has done a lot to show the devs hearts are certainly in the right place.

But fr this game is pretty fantastic, you love to watch a company snatch defeat from the jaws of victory tho

Seems they also opted for the 2005 server experience to preserve the accuracy of the port.
