Patron is a fun game until things go south and your citizens start dropping like flies.

- Tutorial is inadequate, and fails to cover many important concepts. It's common sense that you need available workers for buildings to be built, but you learn the hard way that material resource & upkeep do not walk themselves to buildings.

- It is not immediately clear when citizens start requiring certain goods like luxury.

- The grid system is either great or terrible depending on who you ask. In my case, I couldn't connect 2 islands using a wooden bridge because maximum bridge length is exceeded. The bridge would clearly be long enough diagonally, but you can't do that in a grid system.

- Available information/stats seem relatively sparse for a city builder.

- Lack of procedural generated maps means low replayability on each map. However there are a number of maps available to play on, and given the punishing difficulty, it would probably take some time to play every map.

Honestly, this review is a thumbs up because there is no neutral option. The game is fun, but could be a lot better starting with a more comprehensive tutorial. If you start this game without looking up a guide, you would probably lose a few villages before making it out of early game.
