Pros: Only $10, definitely worth the price tag.
New breach system is very fun and certainly beats out the older games 'creep forward with overwatch enabled'
Individual squad members feel fairly diverse and aren't just retreads of XCOM 2 units

Neutral: Lack of character customization
Initiative turn system can be enjoyable but sometimes feels like you're being stacked against.

Cons: Bugs. I've had 4 crashes in 12 hours total of playtime, soldiers sometimes teleport across the map during breach phase, soldiers occasionally permanently lose their guns (which can only be fixed with loading a save, sorry Ironman players.)
Voice Acting is hit or miss, some characters sound grating and irritating. There wasn't even a filter slapped on the hybrid or alien units, meaning they just sound like generic people.
Story is mostly forgettable, but inoffensive.

in a surprising twist a modern total war game had an actually good launch, with only a little bit of dlc chicanery

This is the third time I've bought it, and I'm on my 10th playthrough.
I like it a lot.

Don't buy it, pirate it. Deus Ex with vampires, make sure you have some combat skills because activision.

awful progression, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ repair and plane prices, still a massive amount of fun.
