I don't hate WRATH: Aeon of Ruin but boy does it feel like a chore to play sometimes. The game boils down to "what if Quake but the levels were way too long" and that's about it. The game desperately needs more gameplay elements or systems or variety or SOMETHING to break up the tedium. On the plus side it looks and plays nice and I think the sound design is pretty good. I just wish it were more...fun.

Easily the best game about being a monstrous frog with a gun. It's charming as hell, shockingly big, and really hard. I mean REALLY hard. My only beef with the game is that I find the music to be awful (both OSTs) and the sound levels are just...bizarre. I had to crank sound effects to 100% and music to 10% to hear anything and this was on multiple machines, both speaking and headphones. Other than that dive in and git gud.

I want to like GUN GODZ as I think Vlambeer’s take on a FPS could be cool but even as a freebie this just misses the mark. The fact that you can’t change where you’re looking while firing is one of the strangest control choices I’ve ever experienced in a first person shooter. Also it sucks that hitscan enemies can just fire through each other at you.

It’s not a terrible experience for a half-hour of your time and there’s some fun to be had here but overall I was just let down considering this dev’s pedigree. Also I really wish pressing escape didn’t immediately kill your game.

Voidigo is one of the most enjoyable action roguelites I've ever played and I have no idea how I missed out on it for so long. It feels like a combination of Nuclear Throne and Enter the Gungeon but with better action and more interesting builds that can eventually break the game in ridiculous and very fun ways. The sprite work is also great and despite how busy it gets I never had a problem with action readability. Highly recommended.

I want to like Mercenary Kings but this one if the dullest, most repetitive games I’ve ever played. Maybe there’s a good game to be made by mashing up Metal Slug and Monster Hunter but this ain’t it.

Immortal Redneck is a really fun FPS roguelite that's let down by a few terrible design decisions. It plays well, has a weird concept, and looks nice. However there are FAR too many terrible weapons that you can end up saddled with completely borking a run. For instance the first boss straight up can't be hit by certain guns. Specced around flamethrowers or were given the phoenix by a cursed scroll and had the rest of your weapons removed? Tough crap, you lose now. That's just frustrating design as all of the bosses demand that you ONLY run with accurate at a distance guns.

Also it feels like the level designers didn't talk with whoever was creating enemies and encounters at all. This game is built out of MASSIVE (and I mean HUGE rooms) with tons of platforming but 90% of enemies don't even move. This means that you'll often find yourself climbing around these giant spaces with almost nothing in them looking for some small enemy rooted to a ledge high above you. It just sucks the momentum out of the game and it happens constantly.

If you can overlook those glaring problems there's still a lot of fun here to be had. Just be warned that the first boss is by FAR the hardest of the game for...some reason.

Gunfire Reborn is one of the most accessible and enjoyable roguelite FPS games available. If any of that sounds even remotely good just buy the dang game.

Delver isn’t poorly made but boy is it just not fun. Combat is extremely simplistic and I can’t imagine doing more than a few runs of this given how samey everything is. If you’re looking for a slow, kinda easy roguelite then yeah go for it but boy is this game missing the sauce.

OTXO isn’t a bad game by any means but it’s also extremely derivative. It’s a top-down hyper violent shooter where you can throw guns and your character is mysterious and wears a mask. HRMMMM…

Still what it has is well done even if I don’t care a single bit about the story and weird tone that I can’t figure out. Also the bosses are boring as all hell and don’t fit with the rest of the gameplay at all.

You can do much worse than OTXO but there's no variety here and you can see everything the game has to offer in just a few runs. And I can't emphasize enough how bad the bosses are.

I wanted to like Cursed to Golf but this game is just tedious. It’s not a roguelike, it’s a physics puzzle game that makes you beat the whole game without failing. There’s nothing about roguelikes here that makes them interesting. Instead you’re left with kinda procgen levels and…that’s about it?

And the game is DULL. Characters blabber endlessly about nothing as the devs want you to watch the same “quirky” animations over and over and over again. For a game where each run could take hours this is terrible.

There’s some interesting stuff here but it’s just buried in frustration. Also the camera is just awful requiring you to constantly fiddle with zoom to even see the hole ahead of you. It also doesn’t explain was various power ups do and you’re punished for experimenting with them. Avoid unless you really like everything golf and you can get it for cheap.
