Review Update 26/11/22

RFactor 2 has the best FFB, the best tyre simulation, and the best LMH, GTE, BTCC racing, but it is the most expensive game to own DLCs with below iRacing. Low Fuel Motorsport has really helped with matchmaking. There are lots of free tracks and some great cars, but the best ones are DLC. It is a really good game to try, and who knows, you might end up buying DLC packs :)

It's a given. You must buy this if you want the full experience; many freeroam and drift servers use this pack. Many japanese car mods require this pack as well. It also includes MX-5 Cup which is a the go-to starting point for racing in RWD cars.

Assetto Corsa is the best way to start your sim racing journey; To live your racing dreams in an F1, GT3, Cup cars or Drift cars, anything goes! The best thing about AC compared to ACC is that it's multiclass and accessible to anyone of any skill level. There's no shortage of locally hosted community races and leagues; believe me, even the MX5 Cup car is very competitive. With the introduction of Simracing.gp, there's even more chances to have an actual booked, scheduled race. As long as you strive to become a respectable driver and / or racer, you will be welcomed in this niche hobby. :)

The closest thing you can get to having a Mario Party-like board game is right here.
First and foremost, only buy this game and its DLCs on discount. Secondly, buy all the card packs first before buying any character packs. Lastly, buy all the original characters voice pack because the game feels lacking without them! Most of the coveted cosmetics are obtainable in-game through events and the retired events shop!

Be in character when you play and have fun bringing out the anime side of you to everyone! Everyone has equal chances to win, and all your wins and fails are up for a good laugh and a good time :)

This is a Free Weekend review and I only have experience with Tokyo Xanadu eX+ before this game. I have tried the game and played through its prologue chapters and finishing the first labyrinth, so what are my first impressions of the game and its series?

Overview
First and foremost, since I am new to the series, playing the 3rd game I expected myself to not knowing a ton of stuff that went before the 3rd game starts. I was right to assume that we are playing as students of a military school ala FF Type 0, with the mentor / senior / teachers mostly being formerly playable characters. A friend of mine told me that the 3rd is a new arc in a new perspective after playing as Rean in the 1st and 2nd game. I was shown a picture of probably their own school uniforms hinting at their past adventures prior to becoming seniors. Furthermore, since coming from Tokyo Xanadu, the artstyle is exactly the same with buttery smooth framerates as well so there's that sense of familiarity. Oh, and be prepared to hear lots of dialogue too. Nihon Falcom might just be famous / infamous for it. You can skip them though.

Gameplay
Comparing to Tokyo Xanadu, I noticed that the ARCUS's Quartz system is exactly the same as Gear system in UI alone. However, unlike that game, alongside passives, some are equippable as "magic spells" aka Materia of FF7. Attacking builds up CP which then allows us to perform Arts and then if built up further allows players to perform their ultimate flashy attacks. Fair enough. The battle is turn-based and uses spatial positioning to strategize various AoE attacks to hit as many targets as possible, and avoid clumping together unless broken. Imo, the battle system is very solid and allows for some great aha and shock moments in every battle. I'm very sure there's a ton more depth to find but I can't do that in my short time. There's also moments like the Link system and character hotswapping moments too that battles can make you feel like a genius when your tactics pay off. I'd say Falcom achieved their magnum opus of player engagement here.

Verdict
If there's one thing I gathered from playing a slice of this game on the free weekend, it's that it's worthy of one of the best JRPGs in terms of gameplay alone. Story is 2nd as it can get too long at times. I don't know if the game has actual romance but coming from Tokyo Xanadu? I doubt it. So it's not exactly a dating sim in my eyes (I can be wrong), but I'm sure there'll be cute moments here and there.

9/10. Would recommend on discount if you're looking for a new JRPG to sink into. Make sure you start from the 1st though.

[Season 20 Update]
The best Battle Royale game with lots of depth. However, playing BR alone only brings you suffering, so go find a community to play together with and be ready to engage in voice comms. :)

Great game, but... what's going to happen to us owners after this so called Remastered is released? Be left to the dust?
Is there going to be an upgrade option?

The simplest fighting game with the same depth as Street Fighter, down to its core; the fundamentals. No need for high level executions or messing up combos, all actions are done with one button. Finally, I found my fighting game.

Though F2P players cannot host a match against a friend (but can accept invites), we can play all characters, play casual or ranked matchmaking online, or play a 1v1 against AI. Honestly, this is a little too generous!

Easily the game I would point to for any newcomers to Fighting Games!
Don't feel bad if you lose rounds at first. Learn as you go, and you'll come on top!

While I admittedly have to look away from how much boobs are shown on screen, I enjoy the story, gameplay, characters, and I do enjoy shredding clothes off rivals (lol). In all seriousness though, this is the best game if you want to really get to know the Senran Kagura cast, the world they live in, and appreciate the characters for what they are. This game is not all about fanservice, as Burst is a complete storyline game with major plot points are delivered Visual Novel style and it's always worth paying attention to because character backstories and development come from it. Recommended for anyone curious about the series and just want some casual fun time.

Opposing Force brings new content to the legendary HL1 gameplay including an entirely new perspective, new weapons to fight with, and new scary, dangerous baddies as Shephard fights for survival in a desolate and hopeless landscape long after the Resonance Cascade. I recommend playing this one if you haven't had enough of HL1. I suggest never touching Hard mode because gosh it is brutal af in the later parts of the game especially on the final chapter.

Don't expect any good music here though. It's terrible. Otherwise a great game.
