Really enjoyed the presentation of Extraneum. On the surface, it displays as a cozy Wolf3d-inspired title. While you progress through, you're met with more intricate layouts, more clever secrets, some snazzy weapon upgrades, and an increasing variety of enemies. This to me set it apart from a lot of other shooters in the category.

Difficulty settings let you scale things to how you like, and I do appreciate that the harder difficulties do not lead the player to play in an exceedingly tedious manner. I didn't feel pressured on Gruesome to corner camp and bait every encounter, but I was punished for poor movement and poor gunplay, and I think Extraneum really strikes this balance well. Secret hunting is also heavily encouraged and rewarding.

I definitely enjoyed my run through the game. Everything felt worthwhile to pursue in a map, and everything from the map presentation, to the combat loops, to the music all added up to just a really cozy experience. Great stuff.

Incredibly fun take on the "Survivors" genre. Players can expect a lot more agency over their character compared to Vampire Survivors, with various deities giving you blessings throughout your run. Customization of each character is pretty sweet, with a gamut of perks and stats that can further modified with equipment.

Even when you have a good stack of blessings and a great set of equipment, be expected to still play around enemy attack patterns. This game hits the sweet spot of reward, difficulty and progression. I can't wait to see what comes next in the game's lifespan.

At first, I wasn't sure what to make of this. You're presented with a looming compound, and a spooky premise. You really don't know what you're getting into, and none of the clues spell it out for you in any hasty manner we associate with video games today. Everything you uncover is told in a way that gives it believable life in its own separate world.

At first, I wasn't sure what to make of this. Then, I concluded it is a phenomenal adventure worth experiencing.
